I didn't register Windows when I installed it and can't seem to figure out how to do it now. Any Advice? :)

If you're talking about registering with MS there is no need to do so. If you mean product activation there is a shortcut for that.

Well, I guess that answers my question....

Uh... WHat is that shortcut. Here's the deal... I got in the habit of reinstalling XP every now and again just because it would run so fast. The last time I tried to activate Windows, it says I have exceeded my maximum activation limit. I called the number and gave all the requested information and I was told that my copy of WIndows was not valid and that I should return it to the manufacturer. I got this from new egg about 6 mos ago. Any idea what is going on? If I had registered when I initially activated, would I not have exceeded my limit? DO I have to buy a new copy?

Call MS.

That's wierd. I must have activated my copy of Windows XP 20+ times by now (on more than one computer) and have never had such a problem. Of course, I had to call MS after my first time of activating.

Maybe someone else is using that serial #...I know there are 84 gajillion combinations, but...
FWIW try retyping it. I had a similar message when I had to re-install, and after going over the serial # 4 times and trying to activate, I actually re-keyed it and it worked fine...weird.

microsoft does have a way of giving you a new serial, if you call and ask, but since you did not register you might have a prob, i would google it, i know there are solutions out there that can fix this problem.
