Hello again guys. Recently I moved to NY and was welcomed to the wonderful world of Roadrunner, which beats my old PacBell DSL with a stick. However, with this new connection comes new concerns as far as security goes.
The network has 3 computers that will be accessing it. The first is a bedroom computer that is sitting right next to the router itself, giving it a wired option, which I took. The second computer is in an upstairs office, which is wireless. The third, a laptop that is wireless as well.
No problems with ANY of the above devices, that is until I try to beef up my security on the network. Now I'm not an advanced user, but I know well enough to change the Router's actual password, as well as adding a 128-bit WEP to both of the wireless connections. Is there any more that really needs to be done with a cable connection? My concern is that Cable is run like a large LAN, correct? Therefore I guess there is more of a potential of being accessed as opposed to a DSL connection.
So, with all this in mind, is it really worth adding any more security to the connection itself? Or is changing the password and adding a WEP more than enough? Thanks for your time, cheers.
