No post when FSB set to 200. Will post on 166 and 133 but CPU speed is incorrect. Any thoughts?
A7V400-MX
Twinmoss DDR 333 512 (and adata 333 512)
AMD ATHLON XP 3000+ 400FSB (AXDA3000DKV4E)
Motherboard does not support 400 Ram.
I have two systems with this config and tried it on both. Problem repeats it self. The only common factor is the same CPU in both systems. I am waiting for more stock to remove the CPU as a potential problem.

Sounds like the combination of mobo and memory simply can't take the native FSB of the processor mate :(

I concur on that too. Can you set the ram to run asynch from the fsb, where it will run at 166 when the proc fsb is at 200?

So why do the BAST@RDS give me a board with FSB of 400 but does not support RAM @ 400. I am going to swop the CPU before I give up completely. If this Fooks up I am going to start looking at another MOBO supplier... anyone like CHAINTECH or GIGABYTE maybe even MSI. trying to stay away from the buget crap... my competitors use the cheap stuff...

Gagabyte......I mean Gigabutte.........errr Gigabyte, no thanks. :D Too many issues.
Chaintech....... I don't know about in the UK but here in the US their tech support and bios updating really sucks donkey balls.
You might use Abit; I've had pretty good luck with their products and they are using good quality Japanese capacitors on their mobo's.
You might try a stick of pc3200 in the Asus board and just see what happens. At most, it just won't work. It might be one of those things where they don't officially support pc3200 memory but it will actually run it just fine. The old Abit BH6 board I used to have supposedly wouldn't support Coppermine P3 procs either but it is still running a P3 1000E overclocked to 1120 in a friend of mine's machine. I don't think that old board will ever die; it's a good 5 years old.

I am OK with ABIT. Problem lies with a good supplier for them. I may try the 3200 MEM test. Chaintech support is not much better here. But saying that ASUS are proving to be not so good eh Shorty ;-)

I just looked at the manual and it looks like it will let you adjust the memory speeds on that board. Set it to run at 133 speed and see what happens. That chipset was originally not able to run at 200 fsb (KM400)and I bet they forgot to update the bios or manual to show what the memory would be running when the fsb is at 200.

I will look again tomorrow. Frustrating.

check fsb/dim ratio if it is 1/1 the ram will try to run at 400 and system will crash
