Is there a good popup killer available.

Sure. Read this (http://www.short-media.com/review.php?r=132) for some suggestions. I would highly recommend using an alternative browser that has integrated popup blocking. If you MUST use IE, and you are using Windows XP, update to XP Service Pack 2, which has popup blocking for IE.

If you have a LOT of popups, you probably have spyware.

Thank you for response. I am currently running all the spy ware and adaware
programs. I have another thread on searchweb2. I will check out or read your referal.

Just because you run the programs doesn't mean you don't have spyware. There are a lot of malicious programs out there that AdAware and Spybot don't detect or kill yet.

With the help of Dexter I believe I have regained controll of my PC.
Feel free to check out the thread on searchweb2.
I have since then downloaded and installed the mozilla browser.
This seems to run faster than IE.
I have not been able to update CW Shredder as of yet.
Every time I try the site is not available.

with those programs alone, im proud to say ive been popup-free from day 1

Thank you for your input. All of or at least most of my problems could have been avoided
if I had known of this site before hand instead of after the fact. I so far have no popups
with the mozilla browser. I believe this matter has been resolved. Thanks to all who have
helped in this matter.

Same here. Cept I dont install Norton Internet Security. But I do like using IE (only becasue it seems impossible to remove) and i use the google toolbar. It has a built in pop up blocker that works really well.

I prefer using the PanicWare Pop-up Stopper Pro, simply because I like to be able to turn it on and off with a double-click in the taskbar, plus I like it's intergrated cleaning tools for a clean sweep of cookies, history, etc, as well as cleaning the Windows history - recent documents list, find history, run history, clipboard, etc. It has an instant Privacy Report which shows you at a glance your history items, cookies etc, which is a handy way to see what sites are pushing a lot of cookies on you. I just find it easier to use than the built in pop-up stopper of XP Service Pack 2 (plus I am using Win 2000 at my office so XP SP2 is not an option) and I don't like having extra toolbars cluttering up my screen like the Google or Yahoo Toolbars do. ANd for those of you who do like toolbars, PanicWare's PopUp Stopper Pro comes with an optional toolbar as well. All around I think it is a great pop-up blocking app, and will continue to use it despite the integrated IE pop-up blocking in XPSP2.
