Since moving to the country in July, my wife has acquired a few more "family" members. I don't know where the madness will stop! :D

We already had 2 dogs and 5 cats. Now she has added:

4 peacocks
5 chickens
2 turkeys

She has her eye on a Yellow Golden Pheasant...(obviously you can't have just one ;) )

Will these chickens be broasted or fried?

They are all safe from being on the dinner table. It would be cheaper to buy them at a grocery store if they were for eating. ;) :D

The pheasants are going to cost $60-75 each. They won't be eaten!!

Sorry to hear that Armo. :(

The pen I built is completely enclosed. I put chicken wire over the top to keep owls and the like out. An oppossum would need to bring some wire cutters with him to get in. ;)

Both of the baby turkeys somehow managed to break their own necks. They were in a brooder box where nothing could get to them, but I guess they jumped/flew up and hit the top.

We went today and got two more turkeys (Bourbon Red), but these are not babies. They are about the size of a full grown chicken.

Guess I'll be building some more pens as the one I built for the 4 peacocks is getting crowded....LOL!

You plan on breeding them?

I believe that is what she plans to do. My wife has been an animal nut since I've know her (about 25 years). She is no longer able to work, so this will give her something that she can do and enjoy.

I'm sure it will keep me busy (and broke) just trying to build pens for them all. :D

Well once they start knockin' dem birdy boots, they should pay for themselves, and all your hard work pretty quickly.
