gotta vent some anger....here goes:

so I was out driving tonight with a friend. we were really bored and just driving around kinda looking for something to do. My cell phone rang and I pulled into a parking lot to answer it cause I didn't wanna drive and talk at the same time. I got done with the call and went to drive out of the parking lot, and thats when it all went downhill. I put my jeep into 1st gear and started to drive and all of the sudden there was a loud crash and a bunch of smoke coming out from under my car, and I just yelled F***!!!! I stopped the engine, thinking I had dropped the transmission or something, and got out my flashlight to check out what happened. I crawled under the car and much to my great surprise the drive train had RIPPED ENTIRELY OFF THE REAR AXLE! DAMMIT!

I'm leaving for college to start football camp on sunday and this car was going to be how I got there. I don't have the money to fix it at the moment so I have to beg my parents, and hopefully I can get it done by sunday.

/end vent

What do you mean by the drive train had RIPPED ENTIRELY OFF THE REAR AXLE!
It sounds like you just lost/broke a u-joint. No big deal bro. You can fix it yourself for about twenty bucks and about twenty minutes worth of work with a 7/16ths or a 1/2 inch combination wrench.
Good luck Swett, any probs let me know, I'll see if I can help. MGK

Yeah, I know it's gonna be easy to fix, but I am sick of putting money into this car. the U joint didn't even brake, just the bolts holding it in. that just means I get to drill them out which I'm not really looking forward to.

Get yourself a couple of left-handed drill bits a size or two smaller than the bolt, spray the broken bolts with wd 40 or kroil and let it sit overnight if possible. Gently start the bit into a centerpunched divot in the center of the bolt and it should drill for a minute and then remove the entire broken bolt which will be on the bit itself. Gently hit the side of the bolt with a hammer while it is on the bit and it should slide off. Good luck bro! MGK

u gotta luv tinkering around with engines and heavey machines. don't get to do it as often as i would like. I just luv gettin my hands dirty, it just gives u that satisfying feeling knowing that u fixed/made/modded what u were working on. That and its cheeper than payin some1 to do it for u :p

That's a crummy break. Don't these things always seem to happen at the worst possible moment?

Since I'm a big College Football fan, I was wondering - where do you play ball?

here's the update on stuff. When I got down and actually looked at how the whole thing is set up it doesn't actually use U bolts it uses these things that are just called straps that screw in with just regular bolts. there was enough of the bolts left that I didn't have to drill them out, but use some pliers instead. I bought a new U-joint and new straps and the whole thing cost me 20 bucks and a few hours work to get it all fixed, and now it runs like a charm, or something else that runs good.

Prof - I am going to be playing at Utah State. Its not the biggest school, but its still division IA ball.

Glad it worked out for you.

Since you're not going to face either of my teams, WVU (where I went to school) or Ohio State (my dads Alma Mater - #1 in 2002!, sorry Kanezfan... ), I'll be sure and root for the Aggies (http://sports.espn.go.com/ncaa/clubhouse?collegeId=328&contentType=playerCard&league=ncaa&type=school&name=Utah+State) , too.
