Thanks all!

prime; ;D ;D

Mack; Possibly. I haven't made up my mind yet... see, basically I get some stuff from my parents, and my grandparents give me some small gifts, and one that's somewhat more substantial...

They DID offer to buy me one of those little Mercedes C230K Sport Coupes, but I (politely) turned them down, since the 560SEL is faster, probably somewhat safer, and more luxurious than the C230 is. For some reason, my grandparents see it's age (17yrs) as a disadvantage...

However, I haven't quite decided what exactly I want yet. I have to do an oil change on the 560, and that will have a substantial effect on what I get. It's been burning some oil, and someone recommended I try this "Restore" oil additive which claims to restore the cylinder walls, piston rings, valve stem seals, etc. If that doesn't work, I'll probably have a valve job done on the car. If it does work, I'll probably go for a Sager NP8890 after they start putting the 16" UXGA screens into them...

Happy birthday geekmeister!

(Try the 'restore' if the engine has over 100,000 mi on it but don't expect a miracle. All it's gonna do is fill the pits and voids on the wear surfaces by chemically bonding to them. It's NOT gonna make it a race-ready newborn...;) )

Yah... I'm hoping it'll stop the oil clouds on acceleration after idling for a while, since if it doesn't, I'm gonna have to have a valve job done...

Yep, sounds like valve guides to me.

Happy b'day, geeky!

Wait a minute... isn't a b'day the thing they use in Asian bathrooms that shoots that jet of water? ;D

Here's a good read Geeky, http://forums.turbobricks.com/viewtopic.php?t=6287&highlight=restore. Seems like Restore or any stop-smoke additive is good for a temporary fix but sooner or later, you'll need to do that valve job.

Ya... that's what the guy who recommended it (the guy in question is our Mercedes mechanic in fact) said that it'll work, but sooner or later, even with it in there, the valve guides are gonna wear out to the point where not even an additive is gonna save 'em, and then you'll NEED a valve job.
