OK this is my first system but I've been reading for hours on this topic so i'm starting to understand things better. First the vitals:
AMD XP 3200 400FSB
Abit NF7 Rev 2.0
Corsair value select 512MB
450W PSU
I think thats the important stuff.
Here's whats happening: I put my system together flawlessly and booted up, installed XP and the abit drivers, etc. Then I wanted to get the newest BIOS so I follow all the instructions and at the end the screen says:
update succesfull press f1 to continue. So I do.
It reboots says cmos chksum error
My options are to press f1 to continue or del to enter setup however, my keyboard does not reply to anything (including num/cps/and scroll lock). It is a PS2 keyboard so there is no USB compatability problem. I also bought another keyboard which also does not work. I have tried resetting by just turning off PSU, turning off PSU and clearing cmos, turning off psu clearing cmos and removing battery but I get the same thing everytime. :banghead:
PLEASE tell me there's a way to fix this!!?!??
PS I have read a couple of other posts where people had similar problems but there were no replies (except one where the guy figured out he had shorted the keyboard connectot. Now, I know what a short is but how do you short out the keyboard connector???)
