I may not be in the right place, but here goes the question.
My wife has her e-mail account with go.com.
She is complaining to me that she can not view music videos sent to her from
our daughter. The videos originate from yahoo. We have tried allowing popups from the site or sites in question. However we get the prompt to download the netscape browser. I tried go thru IE but then the problem came up with java script. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I did down load this. However it did not correct my problem. The music videos originate from yahoo and use windows media player as their platform. IE has no problem however I am trying to get away from that with the exception of update.
When I tried thru mozilla I got a message said I needed netscape to do this I downloaded this and the PC froze while trying to view the videos.

Go to yahoo and download an assortment of codecs. DivX, Xvid, Real Player, Quicktime for Windows, K-lite codec pack, and get Windows Media Player 9 or 10 from Microsoft. And go to macromedia.com and get the Flash and Shockwave players.
I used to have the problem of why I could see videos on one library computer but not another. It drove me crazy sometimes. Once I figured out the whole codec thing, I made it a rule to download all the codecs I can find so that has a minimal chance of happening again.
Why doesn't windows mediaplayer work with the mozilla browsers?
I downloaded the K-lite pack. Now would the fact that I donot have direct x 9
which is not compatible with my video card be a problem in any way?
John Hicks
DirectX 9 is compatible with your video card. All directX engines are backwards compatible, meaning you can install the newest version and it'll only give your video card commands that it can support. For example, if your video card is DX8-compliant, and you install DX9, DX9 will only give your card instructions as recent as DX8.
It shouldn't be the cause of your problem, however it's a good idea to have it anyways.
Well I have a Voodoo 3 card. My directx version was 7 I installed 8.1 and now have lost 3d direct capabilities. any suggestions on what video card would be better unless some one knows of newer drivers than what I do have.

I still ask the question of why windows mediaplayer is not compatible with the mozilla browsers. It would solve a lot of problems if it were.
As any one can see I am not a wiz at this. I usually just wipe out the hard drive and start over when I encounter these kinds of problems.
