[poll] Which bios are you using with the Nf7-S (rev.2)?

Hi, I joined Short-media just recently and I've noticed the wealth of information provided by users @ the Overclocking subforum.

I'm particularly interested in your experiences with certain bios' (abit + independent,) and how much of an impact they've made on your overclocks.

You'll notice that there isn't actually a poll just yet ;D
I was kind of hoping that you guys could get the ball rolling with a few bios' recommendations.

If it's not too much trouble, could you guys also point out which bios' have caused headaches for you in the past due to it's compatability with your other hardware (sata, ram..)

oh, and btw, I just started folding. I don't know if the client can be tweaked any way to improve speed and/or stability. I'm available for pm's and such.

Here is my bios and specs for my NF7 rev 2.0:

Using the Taipan bios (D26_ver.2.0.05_TaiPan_0.1_23.09.04 CPC On)

234 X 11.5 1.95 Vcore (2.7Ghz)

1.7 chipset 2.8 Vdimm

KHX DDR400 256Mb X 2 @ 2.5 2 3 11

Abit BIOS v26 (8/19/2004)

But I use 220 x 11 (2.42GHz). 1.8v VDIMM, 1.675v vcore. I have used the same settings for every BIOS revision since v12.

Latest available for my boards, venerable Abit IC7-Max3's. Update whenever new version becomes available for my board model and subrev.

Have had more issues with MSIs official BIOSs than with any other mfr's releases, EXCEPT for PC-Chips boards, which really STINK as to chipsets and mix of other chips used as well as uneven quality and as to BIOS coding. Went through THREE PC-Chips boards in one calendar year and in one computer, never again will I use PC-Chips for anything. Third one died less than 13 months after I first got the computer. I salvaged the HD, one of the DIMMs (the one PNY replaced for me under RMA), the floppy drive, and the CD-ROM drive.

Not mentioning timings or voltages, wrong CPU-- P4 Northwood and Prescott EE (the first rev of that EE, not the latest rev of that), one each per each of two boxes with same motherboard and BIOS rev here. AND I do not OC much.

i have also nf7-s v2.0
the bios is the one that came with the board...
i am not exactly sure how to update the bios or what to do if there is some problem in flashing the bios....so some help would be appreciated...

also tell me is it possible to flash bios from within windows? if yes then how??

Yes there is a tool you can do that for the NF7. Check on the abit website, it should be there.

actually i find abit's site very poor...
in their instructions they say there will be two files in bios download
1- xxxx.bin
2.awdflash.exe

what i got was
1- d26.exe
2-biosflasher.exe

Use Flashmenu. It automatically downloads and flashes the newest bios.
