Not able to boot with new PSU.

I bought a 500 w. psu from ultraproducts, at zipzoomfly.

This is the exact one:

Now I am back on my old PSU but for a few minutes the screen wouldnt go on. :eek:

Now I really would like to get use of this new thing but when I installed it, the PSU went on, the computer went on, and the mobo seemed to be on.

The cd drives, the floppy, hard drives were plugged in, but didn't go on.

Now I really just need some help because this is making no sense to me, and I know I put the wires in the right places because I just put the old one back in and it's working...

I bought a new video card the eVGA 6800 128 mb, and it should be coming tomorrow so I wanted to hook in my new PSU before it got here.

But no, there had to be something that went wrong!...

Any help would be appreciated.

EDIT: And also, my old psu came with a fan that has a wire embedded into it, and is under my "old psu", so with the new psu, i lose my fan.

need more details on what kind of computer you're trying to put this in. it isn't a dell or a compaq is it?

-Disconnect the PSU from EVERYTHING in the case
-Turn the switch on the back of the PSU to the "off" position
-Take the 20 pin ATX connector and hold it so that it's facing you, oriented like it is in the attached diagram.
-Unbend a paper clip, and stick it into the PS_ON and any one of the "COM" (ground) connectors.
-Flip the power switch on the back of the PSU and see if it turns on

If it does, the PS is good
If not, try this:

Using INSULATED wire (you can put tape over another paper clip or something too), connect the PWR_GOOD to one of the +5v connectors as shown in the diagram and try again. (leave the previous paper clip in place)

If the PSU still doesn't turn on, it's dead.

The PSU turns on, as does the mobo.

It's just that my other stuff doesn't go on.

Okay, got it working...
Don't know how really, but my friend is a nerd what can I say...

w00t.

My computer is way cooler now, at least 10 degrees less when running basic programs.
