Well guys, I just got my internet back yesterday after it being out for 3 weeks. We got power back last week.
As many of you know, Hurricane Ivan devestated this area of the Gulf Coast..from Mobile, Alabama to Panama City, Florida. I live right between those places, and we got hit very hard.
If any of you have seen pictures of the I10 bridge over Escambia Bay in Pensacola...yes the big bridge that fell...I live less than a mile from that bridge.

Yep..the one the semi drove off.
But anyways, my house had 4 ft of water downstairs, and 6ft in the garage. All the downstairs has been gutted and all our possesions down there are pretty much gone...my ca was in the garage...yes..the El Camino..and we didn't have full coverage on it.
I'll update this thread with more information later..kinda busy right now.
Yes..that is a fourwheeler on the el camino

everyone needed to see the camino at that resolution to get a good idea of exactly how much it sucks to go through a hurricane

I'm glad to hear that you made it through the storm OK, Rot Katze. I'm sorry to hear of the property loss though; I've been down that route, just not as bad as you (Andrew in 92). I guess it is just part of the price we pay to live close to the Gulf in the warm (hot) and sunny (and humid) climate. ;)

yeah..it sucks guys..but ah...objects can be replaced (not all, of course) and the important thing is we weren't here for it.
and yes, the entire area around Panama City (which includes Mariana) weren't actually hit hard by the hurricane, but by the Tornados it spawned...gunna take forvever for this place to recover..we've already missed 3 weeks of school, being my high schools gym was blown away and onto the rest of the school, lol
I have some pics somewhere of my neighbors boat that was left in his dock and it actually went into the back of his house...pretty bad stuff

Your post kind of made you sound like an a$$hole. At least, that's how I interpreted it. Maybe lack of smilies, who knows. If anything, it was another case of misunderstood communication induced by the lack of audible speech.
I'm sure you didn't mean it that way. Sorry.

no hard feelings, as long as everything is clear now.

We are really sorry to hear what has happened to you in the other side of the world.
Your photo's sure give an insight of what it must have been like. The high watermark can still be seen on the wall, just above the whipper-snipper. Unless you have been through something like this it's hard to phathom it. :(
Just glad you guys are physically ok. All the best with the future.
