I'm seriously considering BUD/s training with a friend of mine. Is anyone aware what the current standing on PRK surgery is in accordance to eye qualification? Last I heard, it was OK'ed for BUD/s. Do your eyes need to be at least 20/70 & 20/100 prior to surgery? I need to get my full details from my optometrist, but he said I should be able to get surgery to correct MY vision, so I'm thinking I'm clear.

That only has to do with pilots. Most other MOS's are not affected.
Odd that you ask this, I am renewing my interest in the Military as well, I am currently reading through and even studying information at about.com
http://usmilitary.about.com
I am in the Basic Training information for the Air Force. My little brother is soon off to the Navy(currently working in the oil fields), damn I am proud of him. He used to hate the idea of the Military, and being told what to do. As for me, I took 4 years of JROTC during HS and have had a desire to join since I was very young, as long as I can remember.
Anyways, the site may have the information you're looking for. I personally want to join after I graduate college, I think they are shrinking the size of the Air Force though.
