I'm going to set up my main rig on a small desk, so I'll only have room for a 2 or (at most) 2.1 channel speaker set. I need recommendations for a set of good sound-quality PC speakers in the sub-$50 price range for my main rig here. Preferably 2 channel only, if they've got REALLY nice sound.

Get a 2.1 sound system. You'll have some bass if you do.

I passed up buying them at Target on clearance for $25 a while ago! And my ex has a set of those that I got for her for $25 after rebate! ARGH! :banghead:
I guess I'll start looking for them with a rebate again...:eek3:

You could try looking at the Altec-Lansing 621 2.1 speaker set. For about 1/2 the price of a comparable Klipsch 2.1 set (not much more than $75.00 USD), you get nearly as good bass response, an independent volume control, RCA plugs for easy setup and some of the loudest volumes available on a multimedia speaker setup.
The 621's feature a 200W MAX system output, with 143 W being the nominal output.
I'll give a thumbs up to this set of speakers, as I had them before my current Klipsch ProMedia 4.1's and they kicked ass. Great for tunes and bass of all kinds!
