Hmmmm...let's see, VOODOO, Carbon Fibre, Alienware, Magnesium...anyone else see a trend here?
Things that don't do well with high temperatures; Magnesium burns and creates it's own oxygen so it's impossible to extinguish, just about and Carbon Fibre will, basically, explode if gotten too hot.
While I know the chances of a laptop getting that hot are pretty slim to none could you imagine being in the middle of a frag fest and having your pc explode/burst into flames in your lap... :wtf:

Geeky hates VoodooPC, but I can see him buying one to finesse (Really, narrowly evade b0rking  ) the components of his Dell into.

Could be a new genre of TV shows.
Tonight. The show the world has been waiting for. A whole new chapter to TV shows everywhere: *ominous pause* REALITY PC. Watch as these poor, young geeks duke it out. Suddenly, an opponent fires a missile directly at this unsuspecting gamer. If you watch closely, you'll notice that on impact his laptop EXPLODES. Fascinating. Let's see that again. Ooooooh, that's gonna need some rehab. Join us next week when little Johnny's computer suddenly unleashes a demon onto him.
Oh my God my imagination needs to be subdued... :wtf:

I don't think you've ever dealt with burning Magnesium...it burns at well over 1000 degrees F.
Pretty neat really, burns under water (it's what they use to light cutting torches underwater) and if you bury it under dirt it will (sort of) go out until it's uncovered then it will flare up anew.
Having a burning Mag B-B fall on your shoe will result in a hole through your foot because unlike a welding B-B it will burn until the Mag's gone, through skin, meat and bone.
Wheeeee!!
Magnesium is sweet. I used to use it to light my thermite. :D

ahahaha. You actually think I'd use that piece of **** RADA? Why do you think it's 3lbs? BECAUSE IT HAS INTEGRATED GRAPHICS. If it had a 9800m, i'd be interested. With integrated graphics tho? Pfft. Who cares?
Thrax: I don't like Voodoo's desktops all that much, but as far as pre-configured systems go, they're probably the best you can get. Their laptops are fine tho, for the most part (the new one RADA linked to is a joke)... they're hysterically expensive tho.

So what your saying is this trend in ultra-light laptops doesnt intrigue you. I guess you won't be 1st in line when Dell releases its Carbon Fiber Inspiron X700 w/ Radeon X800m? ;D

Probably not, no.
Realistically, a laptop has to have a 1600x1200/1920x1200 or higher resolution screen, the fastest mobile GPU around, and (needless to say) a fast CPU to be of any interest to me. Basically the only laptops I'm interested in are DTRs; light and thin are good, but not if they detract from performance in any way.
