I have roughly ~$1000 to spend. I've been looking at something like this, here (http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=34-115-149&depa=3). Any comments or suggestions? :p

not acer. The (current) seniors at our school all have acers, and they're pure crap.

Suggestions - something with a Pentium M in it.

Are you looking for a desktop replacement, or something light and cool?

I am very much anti-intel, so I would really rather not go pentium, and I'm looking to turn this current computer into my new server and use the laptop.

you won't be playing games on a $1000 notebook, regardless of who it's from or what cpu it has...

I rarely do much gaming anymore.

well, in that case, it shouldn't be a problem. I just figured I'd warn you :)

Check the ads in your local newspapers thursday and sleep in a line friday night :D.

Seriously though, there are going to be some awsome deals going on this friday. If you are ready to by now I highly reccomend checking them out and seeing if you find anything in the advertisements. I know I already got a quick email from microcenter (not the full add yet) and they are advertising this for $550:

AMD Athlon® XP 2200+ with PowerNow!™ Technology;
DVD-ROM/CD-RW Combo Drive
12.1" TFT LCD display

Actually, I just purched my laptop. From the gaming aspect, as well as video, it doesn't seem half bad. Its running an A64 3400+, with GeForce4 440..and it seems to handle graphics quite well.
