They say that your memory is the second thing that you loose,
I can't remember the first....

You might want to read the entire article, but this cuts to the chase.

OCZ PC3700 Platinum. Tight timings don't matter on the Athlon 64.

That's the pair i use. Awesome memory i must say, at least for me.

There are no revisions of this memory, just this one, the EL Platinum 3700. I think Ryko is mixing theese up with the 3200 version which uses the same chips btw and performs just about the same. Anyway, the good part with theese TCCD based memorys is that you can run the m both at 5,2,2,2 at 220+ or even up to 280 at 8,3,3,2.5. This means they are fantastic for all kinds of chipsets/cpu's.

sorry mackanz, but there are rev. numbers for ocz platinum--just not for the EL versions.....hera ya go, look at the title....

(2x256mb) rev. 3 pc3700 = http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=20-146-842&depa=1

(2x512mb) rev. 3 pc3700 = http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=20-146-843&depa=1

I also remember reading an article about how the rev. 3 pc3700 is actually a stock of rev. 2 pc 4000, b/c they were short on pc3700 chips, so in went the <s>samsung tccd</s> hynix chips. This is why the rev. 3 pc 3700 is the best bang for the buck.

EDIT:// the 1gb pc3700 EL is $325 w/ shipping while the 1gb pc3700 rev. 3 is only $270 w/ shipping

That's 3700 Gold. Not Platinum. Platinum has one revision and is guaranteed to come with TCCD chips.

Yes ryko, but those are not the TCCD's ;)
Note that they say GOLD not Platinum. //Thrax beat me to it\\
The rev 3 3700 uses other chips. That's why they are cheaper.

These are OCZ's offerings with TCCD-based ram:

http://www.ocztechnology.com/products/memory/ocz_el_ddr_pc_3700_dual_channel_platinum

I'm gonna see if i can get an OCZ rep to post here if you need more/better evidence. I'm not sure if that's allowed here though.

so should i get the pc3200 or go all out and get pc3700? would there be a diff?

Get the PC3700 Platinum. You're more likely to hit a high clockspeed.

Bud, the most sought after memory right now is the 4200 version. It's the same chips so they would do just about the same. The 4200 have been tested to go higher though but costs more =/
