Pc unable to boot up after hang and reset HELP!!

Help! my pc is unable to boot up after it hang and i reset it, when i reset the pc it even dont have the beep sound and nothing appear in the screen, i try removing and reinstall the RAM, processor and pci card but it still doesnt work, my computer model is a compaq presario however there is a led light up in the motherboard and i refer to the motherboard manual is say that the light indicate that your RAM is not detected or spoil, i already buy a new ram and install it but the same problem still happen. :bawling:

Anyone got any idea about what happen pls give me instruction on what to do thx alot.

what is type of device is the pci card?

the pci card is a modem but i remove it and try to boot up it also not working, and i try reset the bios by removing the board battery as well it still not working.
I read in some forum that compaq actually got their own RAM build for thier motherboard, and the RAM we buy outside cannot be use in thier motherboard is that true?

Where did u read that in the forum about compaq's ram? As for the not being able to add more ram, im pretty sure thats false because my friend has a compaq and he's added some more since he got it. Did you also make sure its the right kind of ram....(ddr, sdr, rd ect...) Also, keep the pci card out of the slot until you get it working. Theres no need for it yet, and it could be part of the reason why your computer isnt working. weird stuff happens for no reason somtimes.

O yea and this biggest question, did the computer work before, or did u get it from someone.

it was working, the time when i was playing my online game and suddenly my computer just hang and i press the reset button then it come to this problem.
so if it not the RAM then i think it should be the mobo, i already try unplug all those device and reinstall it but it still not working hmm. if according to the mobo manual book the light up of the led in the board indicated that the RAM is not working but i have try new RAM .
It is possible that the onboard display card is not working? should i buy a new 1 and test on it?
or u got any suggestion of what kind of testing i still need to do?

OK, if you turn the computer off completely and then turn it back on, will it boot up normally? If so what game are you trying to play....I dont think that your ram or the motherboard is the problem if it does boot up. Try to re-install the game and see if that helps, cause it seems that the game might be corrupt or something

nop my computer totally cannot boot up can't even see the botting screen. when is turn on nothing happen not even the beep sound nothing running (e.g harddisk, processor, etc) just the led light up on the mobo which indicate RAM not detected or defect but already try on new RAM still same problem.

are u sure that the ram you bought is compatable(ddr sdr rd or whatever)

it is the same coz i bring the original to the shop as and example for them.
i think is the mobo problem since everything is ok only the mobo is not tested hmm.

If it is possible, test everything in another computer that has close to the same parts as yours. So take each part at a time and test it, like take your ram and put it in the computer, if that works then take your videocard and put that into the computer, and so on. I had a bad mobo once, and when I started up my computer it would say "no signal input" on the screen and the no post message was saying "system failed cpu test", so I figured that it was the processor I and RMA'd it. I got a new processor back and it still didnt work so i RMA'd the mobo and it finally worked. Alright take my bad experience as an example to not asume until you test everything. O yea and does your monitor say "no post" or "no signal input" or something like that.

hmmm another suggestion I would say is to take everything completely out of your case and put it all back together. Sometimes bad connections are the fault of problems.

Motherboard would be my suspect #1, Power Supply dead or dying would be my suspect #2. Unless you have Compaq parts (particularly Power Supply) to test with, I would highly recomment taking the whole rig back to the shop for testing. And, unless it's proven to be the culprit, make them give you your money back for the RAM.

I'd go with keto on that one and take it back to the shop for testing. how old is this computer anyway?
