Video editing question

I have edited in premiere and have encoded it to dvd and have deleted the file in premiere, I have a copy of the encoded dvd and was wondering if I could somehow bring it back to an avi file? :confused:

Help please I have been trying to transfer large Video files from an external hard drive to edit using Lead... keeps crashing... I am using a USB2. I am thinking I should just purchase a larger internal hard drive and not use the external for video...

Wondering if there is a better software to use... too..

External (Non EIDE or non-SCSI) hard drives do not typically have the throughput (speed) necessary for most non-linear video editing. Try transfering some of the video to the main drive and see if the system no longer crashes.

If it doesn't..then you have your answer.

Thanks that is what I was afarid of... Next step is to purchase a 100 plus GB internal HD to work on and use the the Maxtor to hold ... Whatever.. Any suggestions on a good internal HD...

Go Here (http://www.newegg.com/app/manufact.asp?catalog=14&DEPA=0) and figure out how much you want to spend. A good 7200rpm drive with an 8MB cache (Buffer) will get you in business. A 10,000rpm drive might give you better results for video editing, assuming you have good cooling in your case. Stay away from SATA and SCSI unless you know your Motherboard supports them. Look for good old IDE if your system is at least a year old.

As for a specific brand, Maxtor, Western Digital, and Seagate all have their proponents. You might want to consider length of warranty as well as just price. There are about as many opinions regarding which is best as there are members of Short-Media. :)
