DS and Gamecube: Connectable?

I heard that the Nintendo DS is backwards compatible, but does this include linking it to the Gamecube for four player (such as Four Swords). I can't find the answer anywhere!

I've read some things on it, but as of now I haven't heard if it was connectable or not.

Not connectable, sorry. Also, multiplayer GBA games don't work (with multiplayer). So, if connectivity is that important, keep your GBA, but don't let it deter you from getting a DS.
