I'm looking into getting a dvd burner for my pc, and I was just wondering what some of the better ones out there are. Thanks.

Plextor just came out with an 8x +- drive. It's @ newegg for $260, but no stock yet. Gonna be a sweet drive.

I haven't looked into them in detail, but I can give you some general suggestions:

Get a drive that supports +RW and -RW

A drive made by a reputable company would be the best idea; Stick to Plextor, TDK, Sony, Pioneer, LiteOn, Toshiba, Samsung, etc.

Pioneer A05. It isn't dual media capable like the A06, but it's a great drive. For around 230$, you can get the A06 at Newegg. It's been rated the current #1 by PCWorld and Maximum PC.

Pioneer DVR-A05 for single-media (-R/RW) burning with extremely high compatibility. DVR-A06 for multi-media burning, with compatibility that has to be just as high.
