i was able to get my hands on a g4 with osX installed. only thing is i don't have a mac keyboard. i plugged in a normal usb keyboard but there is no cd eject button. does anyone know of a hotkey or how to bind the key to another key so that i can open my cd tray? i tried doing the f12 for 3 second trick but it doesn't work. any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks in advance

Googling said that F12 ought to do it, but you have to hold it down for a couple of seconds.
Tell me if this works. :)

I think you need the Mac keyboard for the F12 to work. You may be able to write a scripted item to do teh eject, then assign that to a hot key, like F12.

i found out it's only osX 10.0 i see 10.3.7 is out. f12 supposedly only works for 10.1 or something like that. think i'm just gonna upgrade. stupid mac ;D

just tried it. it wants to load 9.3 hahaha. it took like 8 minutes to open the cd tray and it sometimes gives an error. it works though! ;D i'm probably just gonna upgrade or sell it off to someone else. just thought it would be nice to have a mac around to fool around with and learn a little on. oh well scratch that idea. thanks for the ideas.

Well, you've learned that opening the CD tray without a Mac keyboard can be a hassle... :vimp:

the problem is i have to get the cd into the tray first  ahh oh well i like geeky's idea. it belongs in the trash. no offense to mac users... but i hate macs. never had any luck with em. i'm gonna stick with pc's! hope i don't start a pc vs mac war ;D
