Could not find any of the files listed previously. Did check to see that the Temp files in D&S Local Owner were deleted, along with the Temp Int Files. Could not find these manually or using search including Hidden Files & Folders. Haven't seen ads234 pop up again yet. Does this mean I am clean of that vile thing? Too bad you can't shoot people who come up with stuff like that. Y'all are amazing! Keep up the good work! Aimee

You still have some problem files on your log....

If you are not sure how to do some of the things I tell you, check the links I provide for instructions. You may want to print these instructions out for easy reference.

If you have not done so already, please first Run Ad Aware and Spybot S&D.
This is explained, along with several other things, in the link above titled Steps To Take Before Posting a Hijack This Log. (http://www.short-media.com/forum/showthread.php?t=14915)

Set your system to Show Hidden Files and folders. (http://www.short-media.com/forum/showpost.php?p=172588&postcount=3)

For Windows XP or ME, Disable System Restore. (http://www.short-media.com/forum/showpost.php?p=172591&postcount=4)

Reboot into Safe Mode (http://www.short-media.com/forum/showpost.php?p=175908&postcount=6).

Make sure that all Internet Explorer or any other browser windows or internet applications are closed. Do not have any other unnecessary programs running.

Run Hijack This. FIX THE FOLLOWING:

**************

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {AD9EC03C-2889-5E28-8A37-09C54A7B109D} - C:\WINNT\system32\xgkoytqx.dll (file missing)

O2 - BHO: Search Help - {E8EAEB34-F7B5-4C55-87FF-720FAF53D841} - C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Local Settings\Temp\Dn8.dll (file missing)

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [EllTDC] C:\documents and settings\owner\local settings\temp\EllTDC.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [F6Ju] C:\documents and settings\owner\local settings\temp\F6Ju.exe

(Any HJT item with a "04" in front of it means that this program is starting up automatically any time you launch Windows. Any program that is automatically starting up from a folder with the word TEMP in it is bad. It means that a file was downloaded to your TEMP folder while web surfing or while installing some other program, and is being started every time you reboot. That is generally not a good thing. Fix those entries, then later I will tell you how to clean out all Temp files on your system.)

O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Nuj] C:\WINNT\system32\?hkdsk.exe

O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Ltho] C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Application Data\dees.exe

O4 - Global Startup: hp psc 1000 series.lnk = ?
O4 - Global Startup: hpoddt01.exe.lnk = ?

O8 - Extra context menu item: &Add animation to IncrediMail Style Box - C:\PROGRA~1\INCRED~1\bin\resources\WebMenuImg.htm

(Incredimail is known to install adware on your system. I recommend you uninstall it.)

O9 - Extra button: (no name) - {CD67F990-D8E9-11d2-98FE-00C0F0318AFE} - (no file)

Next, clean out all temporary and temporary Internet files. There are a couple of ways to do this:

a - Open My Computer, right click on your C drive, select Properties, and click Disk Cleanup. This will open the Disk Cleanup Manager. It will take a few moments to scan your hard drive, then present you with a window and several cleaning options. Make sure to chose the options to clean Downloaded Program Files, Temporary Internet Files, Recycle Bin, and Temporary Files.

b - Go to the Start Menu, choose "Run" and type in the box: "cleanmgr". (This will also open the Disk Cleanup Manager. Use the same options as above.)

c - Use a cleaning program like Easy Cleaner (http://www.docsdownloads.com/download/EClea2_0.exe) to clean out temporary files.

Reboot normally, check things out, and come back to let us know how it turned out. Post a fresh HJT log for review. If things looks clean, re-enable your system restore and set a new restore point.

Like talking to a 2 year old, isn't it? Always thought I knew a little something about computers, but guess I don't.

Ok...

Downloaded the AdAware SE & ran it along with Spybot. Took out all the junk they came up with.

Set my system to show hidden files & disabled system restore (forgot to do that last part before).

Rebooted into Safe.

Ran HJT & fixed everything but that 2nd one "O2-BHO: Search Help..blah blah blah" because it wasn't there.

Took out a few more things associated with programs I don't have on there anymore (including that stupid Incredimail).

Ran the DCM & cleaned out everything you said to do. (Much easier that way than the way I do it).

Attaching a new HJT log (which to me looks fine but..hey...who am I kidding?).

Thanks..& Happy Holidays..all of them...especially the ones with presents. :) Aimee

Not as slow as it was, & I have yet to see ads234. Sorry I am such a pain, but at least now I have some idea of where to look & what to do that I didn't know about before. Guess I'll stick to nursing school & stay away from the computer field. :) Thanks for everything y'all have done. :) Aimee
