I'm talking legally here, folks. Lately I've been using iTunes, but it's kind of a hastle to remove the DRM on the .m4p files so I can play it in winamp (so I of course do not remove the DRM, because it is illegal as well.). What other options are there? List the price if you can:
iTunes .99 c / song, cheaper per song if you buy the entire album.

I use MSN Music, great sound quality, fast downloads, and 99c just like all the other major ones.
Is it legal to remove the DRM on a file? Only reason I ask is because it sucks because I buy a lot of music on MSN but because of DRM I can't burn them to my MiniDisc.....these companies need to stop fighting with each other on who's gonna sell the service and allow them to be interoperable, because I'm not switching over to "Sony Connect Store" just to put music on my MiniDisc, especially where I have so many purchased WMA files now
but anyway, yeah MSN Music is my pick

I tried iTunes, seems like a decent service, but more devices support WMA than support AAC and I'm just not a big Apple fan so I didn't really want to give them my money, but the sound files are good quality, and they have high quality 30 sec previews (MSNMusic does as well).

Along these lines, I have a niece in Japan who I would like to send some music as a little last-minute Christmas gift. It's her first Christmas away from home and she's really homesick.
Is there a way for me to pay by CC at my end, then send her a username/pw so she can d/l the prepaid tunes?
I hope I'm not 'jacking your thread, shwaip. :)

I know both MSN Music and iTunes allow you to give like virtual gift certificates that are redeemable in both their online stores for tunes
Thanks to the DMCA, it's illegal to remove any DRM from any content that has it.
As for my drop in the hat.. Erm.. I'd violate SM's terms of use. ;)
