SM18 - 98.40 points/week, 136.40 points total

The last time Icrontic7 has turned in a WU was on 8-5 and Icrontic10 continues to be down for the count.:confused2 :mad2:

The overachievers for the week that are outputting more than 200 points/week are Icrontic1, Icrontic2, Icrontic8, Icrontic9, Icrontic11, IC13_BartWilliams and SM17; great work keeping those rigs churning out the points, guys.:respect:

The underachievers for the week (less than 100 points/week) include Icrontic3 and SM15_Folding_Frog; I don't know if you guys were affected by the blackout, but let's get them rigs generating some points.:) SM18 doesn't qualify as an underacheiver as it is just getting up to speed.;)

Total points/week for the ICX/SMX project is 3085.59 points/week.

The total points generated by the ICX/SMX projects stands at 93,534.05 points.:mullet:

SM15 was affected by the blackout. I got her restarted Friday and had to help move my sister this weekend. Reports from my roommate is that we have been having rolling blackouts, thus for safety reasons SM15 has been off this weekend.

So we're waiting from word from IC3 and IC7.

IC10... that's Shenlong off at basic training or something like that? It's been a couple months now. He definitely should've made arrangements for the rig if it was going to be that long. At what point do we say "enough" and look into retrieving the machine?

Thrax
18 Aug 2003, 8:07am
He should be back in about 2-3 weeks.

Necropolis
18 Aug 2003, 9:31am
Lets see what he says when he gets back. If he cant assure us that he will be able to keep it folding for us, which is no fault of his own, then we should look into clawing it back and giving it to someone who can.

I hate to say it but the point of the machines is to fold for the team 24/7. Small breaks are acceptable but the machine hasnt put in a work unit in a long time :(

He never did say he was leaving for basic training but he should have given it up. Esp since he said he would be leaving in September.

I have seen him on AOL forever now. Didnt know if he was there or what. Hmm nice Auto away message...

Just a thought...

When MOST people go to basic training and enroll in the military, their predominant thought isn't an ICx machine.

We are not saying it is, but he has been back for over a week now and hasnt even popped in just to tell us how things are going. Just looking and he hasnt even registered over here yet.

mmonnin
18 Aug 2003, 2:21pm
Oh but he told me months before he even left. And then he said he would be leaving, I think it was for good, on 9-9-03 not in the summer. He said for like 4 years and not basic training. Then he would give up IC10 for a new host.

muddocktor
18 Aug 2003, 2:52pm
Regardless of when he is gone for good, he still needs to contact us on the team and give up the Team rig immediately since he can't keep it Folding for the cause. I understand that he couldn't keep it running while at boot camp but he is now the property of Uncle Sam and has to ask "how high" when the navy tells him "jump" and he doesn't qualify as a proper host any more since he can't guarrantee that he can't keep it folding.:rolleyes2 As a matter of fact, he should have gotten in touch with mmonnin, myself, TBonZ or keebs before he went to basic training to handle the switchover to a new host.

If he doesn't answer the PM's that peeps are sending him at Icrontic, we need to dig up his snail mail adress and send him a letter explaining that he needs to relinquish IC10 back to the team.

Terry, thanks for the welcome back.

Hey guys,

I completed Navy basic training a couple weeks ago. I'm still on base though (limited webnette access). I get online when I can. Anywho, IC10 (and some of my other rigs) was powered off before I left as I couldn't get someone to care for it short notice. The original plan was for me to leave in September not June.

I won't be home for prolly three more weeks. In anycase I didn't forget about folding or the cause so expect my arsinal to be revamped. Thats the lastest for now. I'll do my best to keep you posted.

IC16-UK is suffering from random reboots. Everytime it reboots it drops its WU. It reboots even when not running the client. Its not OC'd and its not a heat issue. I hope to have it sorted this weekend. I have some spares on the way to me.

Sounds like a worm. Quick fix is reformat, reinstall Folding. Good luck. Thanks for hosting our baby.

Formatting and re-installing will not fix most worms at the moment as they will come back as soon as you connect to the internet again (well not immediately, but soon). You will need to patch everything up rather than just formating else the machine will still be wide open.

Alternatively just boot knoppix linux (just boots from a CD) and run F@H in that instead, wouldn't even require a HD.....

Unfortuantely, this last week has been really low b/c my ISP keeps dropping my cable modem connection.
Things should be fixed now, so expect it to go back up a bit.

OK, here is the weekly production of the SMx project. Stats were taken from Statsman's stats on 9/19/03 at 0100 hours GMT(for our friends across the pond that don't know how to convert from American time zones):usflag: .

You will notice that I've numbered all the systems as SMx instead of their folding names. This is because this project belongs to Short-Media, hense calling them SMx no matter the name they are folding under.;)
OK, here is how the SMx project has done the last 7 days:

SM1 - 503.30 points/week, 11,079.40 points total
SM2 - 563.40 points/week, 13,368.40 points total
SM3 - 244.19 points/week, 6,894.52 points total
SM4 - 365.50 points/week, 11,888.00 points total
SM5 - 286.26 points/week, 5,077.06 points total
SM6 - 216.00 points/week, 6,921.85 points total
SM7 - 83.40 points/week, 7,123.09 points total
SM8 - 168.81 points/week, 7,097.72 points total
SM9 - 198.00 points/week, 6,859.72 points total
SM10 - 0.00 points/week, 3,547.58 points total
SM11 - 473.00 points/week, 12,272.10 points total
SM12 - 83.40 points/week, 2,631.67 points total
SM13 - 254.69 points/week, 5,400.59 points total
SM14 - 161.78 points/week, 4,327.58 points total
SM15 - 51.40 points/week, 1,716.88 points total
SM16 - 0.00 points/week, 3,689.77 points total
SM17 - 154.20 points/week, 1,871.77 points total
SM18 - 264.58 points/week, 1,419.38 points total
SM19 - 64.00 points week, 64.00 points total

:fold:The overachievers this week are SM1 and SM2, both with over 500 points this week.:respect:

:fold:Very closely following them is SM11, with nearly 500 points this week.

:fold:The following rigs all put a great week folding in with 200 points or better for the week: SM3, SM4, SM5, SM6, SM13, AND SM18. Way to go, you all!

:fold:We had another SMx rig go active this week and has already turned in 64 points. Welcome to the project, SM19!:fold: :woowoo:

Finally, we get the underachievers for the week. :hrm:

SM7 only produced 83 points this week; I noticed it was down for a while the other day and sent an email to Wahoogie about it. I never heard back from him but he finally has the rig back folding.

SM12 also produced only 83 points this week. That rig has a 1.33/266 Tbird in it. Even though the mobo can only run a 200 fsb, that proc's multiplier should be set for 12.5 and be producing more points than this.

SM15 has only produced 51 points this week. It has not turned in a WU since 9/14/03. What the hell is going on, reelbigfish? It only takes a couple of minutes a day to check a folding rig out, even headless. I know because I monitor one of my dually rigs that way with TightVNC. If you have to shut the rig down for some reason, then post it up and keep everyone informed, RBF.

SM10 is still down, with Shenlong not having it folding. However, I did notice that he has managed to have 3 processors folding for Digital Ferret, which isn't even in existence any more.:mad2: :banghead:

SM16 is also down with hardware problems and Necropolis_uk on vacation. I hope he can get our UK based SMx rig back in operation when he gets back.

Total points produced by the SMx project for this week was 4,135.91 points.:ninja:

Total points awarded to all the SMx rigs for the project stand at 11,3251.08 points. :respect:

Well, it's a couple days early but seeing that I have to go to work in a few hours, I will give a breakdown of our production this week. Stats were taken from Statsman at 0:00 hrs CDT.

SM1 - 585.00 points/week, 11,518.40 points total
SM2 - 622.30 points/week, 13,816.20 points total
SM3 - 298.78 points/week, 7,062.40 points total
SM4 - 481.00 points/week, 12,246.70 points total
SM5 - 300.26 points/week, 5,230.64 points total
SM6 - 238.00 points/week, 7,127.85 points total
SM7 - 239.40 points/week, 7,279.09 points total
SM8 - 176.64 points/week, 7,225.32 points total
SM9 - 248.00 points/week, 7,075.72 points total
SM10 - 184.00 points/week, 3,731.58 points total
SM11 - 412.00 points/week, 12,566.10 points total
SM12 - 0.00 points/week, 2,631.67 points total
SM13 - 225.19 points/week, 5,574.38 points total
SM14 - 119.49 points/week, 4,387.58 points total
SM15 - 109.18 points/week, 1,826.06 points total
SM16 - 0.00 points/week, 3,689.77 points total
SM17 - 257.00 points/week, 2,077.37 points total
SM18 - 330.90 points/week, 1,625.28 points total
SM19 - 151.55 points week, 183.55 points total

:fold: The overachievers this week are SM1 and SM2, with SM2 over the 600 point/week mark and SM1 in the very high 500 range.
:respect: What kind of steroids do you guys have those boxes on?:D

:fold: In the 400 point/week range we have SM4 and SM11. That is some great production, the both of you.

:fold: In the 300 point/week range we have SM5 and SM18. That is some really good production out of those pally's, guys:rockon:

:fold: In the 200 range we have SM3, SM6, SM7, SM9, SM13 and SM17. That is some fine, steady production there. In this group is the only 2 Intel P3 machines we have in the project so far. Gromacs sure makes a big difference with those 2 rigs. Just missing the 300 point/week range was SM3. :Rocker:

:fold: In the 100 point/week range we have SM8, SM10, SM14, SM15 and SM19. After a long time being down while Shenlong was in boot camp, SM10 is back in action.:woowoo: Hotrod, I see that you are getting small point WU's; are you doing genomes with that rig? Something might have changed the preferences in your config to G@H only and genomes don't give nearly the point value per hour of processing as even a Tinker WU does. RBF, are you having problems with the frog machine? I see that it hasn't turned in any work since 9/21/03, according to Stanford. You folded a few WU's and then no production again. Let us know if you are having problems.

Finally, we have 2 rigs with no production this week. SM12 hasn't turned in a WU since 9/17/03. What is the matter with the rig, Film? Also, SM16 is still out of action and Necropolis_uk is on vacation (that lucky dog).

The folding production for this week stands at 4,978.69 points/week. Total points contributed by the project stands at 116,875.66.:fold: :fold: :fold: Once we get the 2 down rigs back folding, the project should be cranking out more than 5,000 points/week for Team 93 and F@H.

hey guys, I apologize for the non-communication, school has been kicking my ass all over the place. I've determined that SM15 can't be overclocked. Don't sweat it. You are doing your duty. The original intent with the "Donated Computer Project" was for the computers to be run at default specifications. The overclocking was merely an option for those machines that were capable and for those hosts who were interested in the tweaking.

The PC locked up and crashed yesterday... and wouldn't restart. The fans would start to move then stop. I took my server's power supply out and tried that... Hey!!! Works great. Then I tested the old power supply. Smell burnt and the 12v and 5 v were way low and they could not handle a load. After I tested the system for a while withour problems, I tried to overclock it a bit and the system become unstable. I do not have much knowledge on OC a AMD 1.4 GHz chip. SM18 - 208.71 point/week, 1,865.99 points total
SM19 - 297.93 points/week, 654.77 points total

The highest producer this week by far is SM2 with 635.20 points.:respect: Way to go, redoulent; that's really having that Tbred humming.:respect:

The SMx rigs in the 300-500 pointweek production are SM4, SM5, SM8, and SM11.   That is some great production from all those rigs.

In the 200-300 point/week range, we have SM7, SM9, SM13, SM14, SM18, and SM19.:D That is some good, steady production from those rigs, which also includes our 2 P3 rigs in the SMx project. Who would have ever thought that those old P3 rigs would turn out so many steady points in the 200-300 points/week range week after week when we built those rigs.

Rigs that turned in 100-200 points in the last week include SM1, SM3, SM6, SM10, SM15, and SM17. Let's get those rigs humming along, you all. If you are having problems with the rig, please post up a thread to see if we can help resolve the problem.:)

Finally, we have 2 rigs that aren't folding, for whatever reason.:( SM12 has been down for almost a month, with no word that I've seen from Film on what is wrong. :confused2 And SM16, the UK based rig, is still down. Is there any hope of getting it back up and running, Nec?:(

I've noticed that we have a few of the SMx rigs that are running palamino XP's in them that don't seem to be producing as many points as they should be able to. You people that have the palamino procs should try running the beta 3.25 clients and use the -forceasm and the -advmethods flags in your startup shortcut to maximize the folding ability of those procs. The palamino procs don't suffer from the SSE bug problem that some of the Tbred B procs do and will fold just fine when using the SSE optimizations. The palamino XP's will actually fold Gromacs faster at stock speeds while using the SSE optimizations than folding Gromacs overclocked while using 3DNow! optimizations. This also holds true for the Morgan core Durons. The use of the SSE optimizations really made a difference in the P3 rigs; turned them from relative dogs to great, steady producers.:)

Total points contributed by the SMx project this week were 4,538.46 points. :fold:

SM17 is running 100% CPU all day and hasn't had downtime except for power outages, somehow it still won't get over ~280 points / week running 3.24 -forceasm advmethods on Linux on a XP1600+. Its an absolute minimalist debian install so absolutely nothing (except the odd cron job to check for updates) is stealing cpu time. I've now switched to 3.25 but no speed improvement is discernable. We'll see what happens after a couple of weeks.

No luck overclocking as of yet (FSB refuses to go higher although I know the ram can do it on other boards) I'd rather not unlock the multis of someone else's proc (its a pala). I know SM18 has similar specs, any hints on how you're doing ~30% more than me per week or is that an overclock?

It's running 3.25, and has -forceasm and -advmethods set to run. What else can I do?

Is that mobo a Gigabyte 7ZXE mobo? I just downloaded the manual for that board and there looks to be no overclocking features whatsoever in bios, not even fsb speeds.:( It looks like the only way to overclock it is to go download the latest version of Easy Tune from Gigabyte and try overclocking with that windows utility of theirs.

If that mobo is a GA-7ZX, then I think your fsb overclocking options are pretty poor as that is an original KT133 board, which usually can't run over about 112 fsb speed. There is a jumper block section on the mobo that will give you some limited fsb speed options though.

If you are serious about maximizing that rig's output, we need to know the exact model number and revision number of the board, to see which one it is and what procs it can support.:) It looks like Gigabyte came out with several different variations of the same board, with both KT133 and KT133A chipsets.
