I haven't thought too much of actual goals for this year. But I figure I would like to have my game I am working on at least close to a beta stage. But more than that I want to repay my parents for helping me out financially while I went to school. I also want to move back to Texas and find a good job that pays the bills, but fun and educational above all else.

Ohh yeah, I want to see a doctor.... I haven't been to one of them since 2001 I think it was. :p Health Insurance would be nice.

I hadnt thought about a goal/resolution until I came across this thread but about the only thing major that I can really think of is to be a better boyfriend than I was last time to my girl.

The best advice I had when taking my test was from a video my driving instructor lent me. It was a government vid and this guy said, " we are not interested whether you are a good driver or not but absolutely insist that you are a safe one". You are allowed to make mistakes but if you make one that is dangerous or potentialy dangerous then you fail.
I did a parachute jump for charity but my test was more nerve wracking. Just keep cool and be aware of what's happening around you, and keep using that mirror. You'll be fine. Best of luck, let us know how you get on.

Great job Clutch,

Being near debt-free is a wonderful feeling.

I've only had my Stang for a year, and I've already cut a 5 year loan by 60%. Should have it paid off by Dec 05. Need to buy a house or condo next.

Hit that nail right on the head! All you can ever do is be there when they ask for help, and not blame yourself if they don't.

I must have missed this thread, but I met a few of my goals:

Eliminate short-term debt (credit cards) - Got that one done around March when I paid off and closed the BestBuy CC I had purchased my notebook on last June. I had finished off my Amex balance in Feb.

Put my monetary situation in order - This one was tougher. It won't really get finished until I pay off my wedding, but I got organized early. I'm keeping track of account balances and bills in a spreadsheet, on a per-pay-period basis, which was weekly under my old job and monthly now. I found MS Money to be not-quite-right for me when I tried to use it (one of my CC accounts that I downloaded into Money was being recorded as positive net worth and the budget projections were thrown off by that to the point of uselessness), so I had to go back to Excel. I was also keeping meticulous track of every single transaction in a little book, to try to pin down my 'latte factor' (that little $5 wasted every day really adds up over time!) - as it turns out, the bulk of my money was being used on food. Even when not eating out, I found that I was spending too much. The solution was to buy groceries once a week and plan meals a week in advance, rather than buying meal-to-meal. I was able to stop keeping the record in April, without really increasing my 'latte factor' spending. I met my personal savings goals of paying for my honeymoon without having to put it on a credit card and saving for the up-front costs of buying my home. I have not paid a dime in credit card interest since Feb. Unfortunately, my fiancee's mother backed out of helping pay for our wedding, so once we get married (Aug 13) I'll have to pay for that ASAP, hopefully before the credit card we have for it starts charging interest on Nov 1.

Buy a house - Check! (http://www.short-media.com/forum/showthread.php?t=30209) I picked up a huge chunk of long-term debt to replace the short-term debt that I got rid of. Once I stop paying rent on the apartment, though, my mortgage will be easily affordable when compared against my current rent plus the amount I was spending on my CC bills monthly before.

Clean out my storage unit - I own so much crap that the apartment just couldn't fit it all. I had to pay for a storage unit for about 9 months before I bought the house just to keep things like my couch, loveseat, and dining set (in the apartment we use CB's living room furniture and our PCs take up the whole dining room). I cleaned up, trashed out, and moved out of my storage unit in 1 day after I closed on my house, just in time to avoid another monthly payment on the unit ($33) and I even got my deposit back ($30), which I had forgotten would happen.

Here are the ones I missed:
Work out 3x per week - Not even close! Does it count if I work out 3x during the last week in December, and count it as meeting my 2005 resolution before the end of the year?
Clean my room and keep it clean - Right now it contains my bed, a bookshelf, and piles and piles of clothing on the floor. Almost all of my other posessions are at the house. I've nearly given up on my living conditions at the apartment, and when I move into my house I'll have a wife to <s>nag</s>, er, <s>bully</s>, er, sweetly convince me to keep things in order.
