I'm using a little network here with 3 wireless rigs. One of the rigs contain a harddrive i want to share to the laptop in the living room. This isn't really my cup of tea so i gotta ask.

I know how to share the thing so the other rigs can see it, but how do i share the stuff ONLY to those and not to any neighbour that hacks into my wireless network? XP Pro and SP2 here on the "server" and XP Home on the laptop.

TIA

You could disable simple file sharing (image (http://img22.exs.cx/my.php?loc=img22&image=folderoptions5wj.gif)) and set the permissions on the drive so that only certain accounts can access it.

Set your firewall on the wireless router up right.

I knew a guy that used to drive his pickup truck around with laptop and wireless NIC installed on the seat of his truck down neighberhood streets untill he found a good signal and could use the internet. Would sit in his truck out front of the house all night surfing the net on someone elses cable setup.

Use private address's assigned IP's on the Nics disable dhcp and disable the guest account for starters.

Yeah I was about to ask the same thing. I have a Laptop and someone pointed out at school that I could get to other peoples shared folders and even delete stuff or w/e. He even said if there wasnt an Admin password that you could even log in as the administrator.

I guess I will have to set permissions for the Apartment network and deny everyone else.

Anyone know if there is a way to set permissions by wireless connection? Like allow for the apt connection and disable the schools?
