would a 64 bit version of F@H work any better than the current 32 bit version?

It's really hard to tell without experimentation. Sixty four bit computing might allow the F@H program to address larger blocks of data in floating point space, increasing efficiency..But that could be total bull****, and me talking out of my ass. Sounds good, doesn't it? I'll leave it to someone else to confirm it.

In the real world, sixty-four bit apps are hit and miss; preliminary DiVX/XVID encoding is showing remarkable speed increases, whereas other apps don't flinch.

I guess wait and see is a good answer.

I'd guess the real advantage might be huge WU's. Like 60,000 point ones. Don't know if they'd be any faster though.

It doesnt help much and last I heard it was going to be awhile before they did release a 64-bit client because of the small increase and 2 because of the small need for it. IT has been awhile since I heard that though.

I'd be interested in seeing how the multi cores handle F@H or vice versa! :fold:
