View Full Version : How to get big WU's?

I want to try and fold big WU's, if I can. My last WU only gave me 57 points, that's the usual points I get for WU's.

How can I fold the 600 point WU's? What's the difference (apart from points) with folding 600 point and 57 point WU's? Could I fold those big WU's?

Thanks

just use the -advmethods tag when starting F@H. I'm running a 600 point WU right now and memory usage is about 100MB.

-advmethods, What's that? How do I get it started?

Thanks

If you are using the Windows version, right click on the icon used to start F@H, the one in you "startup" folder, and add -advmethods where the picture shows it..

I'm running the "no-nonsense" Text-only Console Version 5.02.
I'm not sure where to add '-advmethods'? As your pic above is slighty different.

Trogan, first you need to have answered "yes" when asked if you allow bigpacket work which configuring the client. You can check to see if the client is set up for bigpacket work by opening up the client.cfg file in notepad and check to see if there is an entry that says "bigpackets=yes". If that is answered "no", then change it to "yes".

After ensuring that bigpackets are allowed for your machine, you need to configure to run using the -advmethods flag in the target of your startup shortcut. Check out how it's done in the attached picture I'm posting here, along with the client.cfg picture I'm attaching:

I use the grapical client, but adding the -advmethods tag is the same, but here's something that may help better than my long explanation.

I've changed 'bigpackets' from NO to YES.

I created a shorcut of FAH502-Console.exe to my desktop where I added '-advmethods' to the Target section.

Do I move the shortcut back to the FAH folder and keep it or can i delete it?
Will the next WU be a nice big one? I hope!

Thanks for your help guys :)

Dang Jim, Open client.cfg in wordpad and each option will be on its own line. Notepad doesnt display it quite right.

Right Click FAH's executable->Creat shortcut
Add -advmethods to the end of the target line like mudd has posted.

Also Jim, unless you explicitely specify yes or no or enter the info it wont display in client.cfg. Go thru and enter default and see how much is in there. Then -configonly and manually enter 'no' and 'yes' instead of just hitting enter and see how much is in the file. So he might not have all that the in the client.cfg file.

If you're folding as a service I can show you where to put -advmethods in your registry ...if you're sure about editing the registry that is!

I don't have everything that's in Mudd's pic.

This is what my client.cfg has inside. NOTE: I changed 'bigpackets' from NO to YES.

so far the 600 point WU's are under projects 1134, 1135, 1140, and 1141.

Check the fahlog.txt file. It will be in the directory that you ran the fah console file from.
p1134_RIBO_FSpeptide_EXT
p1135_RIBO_FSpeptide_HEL
p1140_RIBO_FSpeptide_EXT_nospring
p1141_RIBO_FSpeptide_HEL_nospring

Those are the 4 current 600 point WU's that stanford is sending out.

not difficult at all ...

Once you've set FAH as a service it will register in your registry ...so go into regedit and do a search for -svcstart
Once you find it then modify IMAGEPATH to include -advmethods right after with a space.
It should look like IMAGEPATH>D:\f@h\fahconsole -svcstart -advmethods or whatever your particular path looks like
