They sure grow up fast...

4 weeks old. The biggest male weighs almost 9 lbs today. When we let them go to their new homes at 8 weeks they will be 16 to 20 lbs on average.

Thats the one I want too. Since we are going to try and continue breeding them I need to show them also. The black and white ones are much more rare. They have a weird gene that makes a white dog with black markings and less then 15 percent of the Newfoundlands are like that. Most are almost all black.

Cool thing with Newfoundlands is you can show them in the ring like in a traditional dog show and you can also show them in a working dog environment as they swim and do rescues and pull carts and sleds and stuff.

These have been working dogs for almost 5 centuries and have performed thousands of rescue's at sea.

Here is a pic of the daddy. He weighs almost 160 lbs. He is on the left. The one on the right (all black is his daddy) and the black ones dad weighs almost 200 lbs. He looks like a bear. When I saw him for the first time he took my breath away.

For god sakes the big one is a porker and adds a half pound a day to his weight right now. He waddles when he walks. I know strippers that didnt swing their butt as well as he does.

He may also be the sweetest one of the bunch. I wish I ciould keep a male but I can't. I have a 130lb male Pyrenees and the whole alpha dog thing where they fight to figure out who leads the pack gets really scary when the dogs are over 130lbs a piece. Not a pretty picture. Not like poodles that only fight till they pull the ribbons out of each others hair.

The females in general are more submissive and even though the female Newfy's are as big or bigger then the male Pyrenees they let him pretend to be in charge.
