strange language

on my friends comp when he loads windows all the programs on desktp, all program names, everything to do with widows is in some strange heirogliphic language. i tried everything i could , ran every anti virus , anti spyware program i could find and nothing has helped.

can anyone help?

Sounds like you either have the language settings put on a language for which the font is not installed, or one or more of your fonts are corrupt.

You can fix the former in Control Panel>>Regional and Language Options. For the latter, you may need a repair install, unless you can extract the fonts you need from the Windows CD.

i will try this , problem is i cannot read anything. when i try to run the xp fix cd it is all in that language too. as well as the control panel settings lol

i can't read anything to know what i'm clicking on
