Upload speed is not as advertised 20kbps

I just took this report after finding out I was only uploading at 20kbps on FTP while my friend uploading to the same server is going 120kbps. SO they capped iit??

No that's about right. 256k upload on a cable or DSL line translates to 20k/sec. It has to do with kilobits and kilobytes, one byte equals eight bits. Your theoretical upload should be higher than 20k, but you have to account for overhead and how much of the total is really usable. When downloading, you won't be downloading at 3000 k/sec, it'sll be like 350, that's what I get downloading, up to 371 at times steady. I have Comcast.

why does my friend get so high. Is it because he only has 2 pc on his network? and I have 3 +1 wireless on??
