PLEASE help! keeps restarting over and over!

Hi,
i was attempting to restart my computer in safe mode, and when i got to the F8 screen and clicked on safe mode, it began to restart and then once it got to the XP logo it crashed and started from the beginning again...I dont know what is going on, i have tried restarting it in all different modes including normal mode and it just keeps automatically restarting over and over again.
Any help would be appreciated!!!!!! i have some files i really need soon! THANK YOU

Yes. When you attempt to setup windows, it will detect an existing win installation. It will give you the option of either repairing the existing installation or setting up a new fresh install. Select the repair, that should fix you up.

Thanks SO much for everybody's help. I am now able to start up Windows although i will nervous next time I turn off the computer!! I think I may still have a problem with a virus so I will probably post my HJT log in the security forums. But for now, things seem to be working great.

Anyway there are 2 "cheers" as far as I know. In fact, the other "cheer" is my sister who has been helping me from her computer when I couldn't get on my own computer. She was sent to this site by a friend and so of course she recommended it to me. She has been a great help along with all of you...I can't tell you how much I appreciate you guys on here!! I can't believe it's a free service. Thank you! :D
