can anyone tell me when star wars is supposed to be set in time i,e a year. Searched google a lot however i can't find anything at all which is strange. So any fans know?

The exact year may be irrelevent but they did take place "A long time ago, in a galaxy far far away."

So although we do not know the exact year Star Wars took place, we do know that it did in fact happen "A long time ago".
