So yesterday afternoon this guy I work with walks up to another colleague of mine, pulls a wad of $100 bills from his pocket and says, very nonchalantly, "Oh by the way, here's your share". The wad was over $1100. This guy turns white and says "wtf?" (literally).

For the last two years, they both played 1 number each in a 2-person lottery pool, unbeknownst to the rest of us, and for this Saturday's draw, 1 series of numbers was ONE NUMBER AWAY from the jackpot of $9,000,000 CDN. CAN you imagine...I think I would throw up on the spot. They ended up winning over $2200 (over 130 tickets were the same- over $315,000 total), which is better than a bag over the head and a punch in the face, I guess. The second guy gave up checking long ago and just kind of gave the other guy $2 every week and went about his bizness...then this.

I just had to share this- I am still freaking out.

:D Actually, 2 years ago maybe yes, but right now more like
1.00 CAD = 0.814669 USD according to

http://www.xe.com/ucc/convert.cgi

but according to http://www.x-rates.com/d/CAD/USD/hist2003.html 2 years ago this month it was $1.51215 CAD (February 2003,19 days average). Crazy...whooda thunk it? Half of Quebec couldn't go south to Florida for several years. Sales of Speedos must have been in the tank then!!!! haha

:D
2 years ago it was worth about $0.664364 USD...now it's about $.813...not too bad for people with 40-year-old helicopters (*sigh*).

It was so bad back then that Canadians (mostly Quebecers) couldn't afford to go south for the winter. I would have hated to be selling Speedos those years! ;D
