View Full Version : is this illegal?
Hey guys sup,
Like 3 days ago I learnt my school has message boards I went to look at them and they sucked... liking 3 members and liking 2 posts. So yeah i made one post saying congrats on the assembly we had that day. So then I was talking to my friends saying how my school had lame message boards. Then my friends went and like spammed them saying F**K fags and stuff... so I didn’t want to get blamed or something so I told the dude who runs the board on msn that my friends in USA spammed boards and he should fix it before a teacher sees it.
Now he’s making a big deal out of it saying my IP was one of the 7 IP’s one person used to spam it, and it wasn’t even me. I don’t want to get in trouble or even questioned over something so stupid like this so is this even an issue. Is it even illegal? Cause he got rid of post and banned members. And he’s saying he has talk to his supervisor who ever that is.... and when I asked him if he talked to his supervisor he wouldn’t answer so I asked him again and he said to stop harassing him... wtf
Schools seem to make their own laws, I got into trouble for "hacking" at my school a long time ago. Wish I did though, at least then the trouble I got into wouldn't have been for nothing. They had nothing on me either, I never threatened anyone, or did anything. Just that the PC that I was using was reported when the next class came, and since I didn't report anything wrong when I was using it, IT HAD TO BE ME.
I hate this school system, with a passion. I could rant on it for days and not feel better. But I won't. Dunno what to tell you about your problem, they'll probably report this to your parents, put you in ISS or some bull**** punishment that doesn't work on anyone. Try to scare you by telling you it's a federal offence punishable by 2 years in prison and a $250,000 fine..... God knows it's happened to me time and time again back in the day.
Total crap.

Yeah, sounds like BS anyway, and the board is run on MSN??? They can't link your IP to you anyway because they'd have to somehow figure out that your IP is linked to your account which would involve way too much politics of contacting your ISP and then getting the rights to give the your information....just stuff that's never going to happen.
Schools, as RWB mentioned, try to make their own laws. A teacher got myself and a friend in trouble because we were using one of the library terminals (like the things that arent even a computer, they just allow you to search the materials in the library database) and she told the librarian we "hacked" it. What happened was I accidentally hit some key to exit the main menu so I just walked away from it and went to the next terminal. Well the teacher knew I did a lot with computers and I got in trouble for "hacking" the terminal. The remedy? typing "library" at the command prompt brought you back to the main menu. Wow. And I got in trouble for this. People who don't know anything about computers rule.
As a side note, I find it amusing that this isn't the only thread I remember with a title like "is this against the law" or "is this legal?" they always seem to draw my attention because you know theres gonna be something good inside ;D
Well I never told the guy my real name I made of some fake one... they will likely make an announcement at school looking for info bout it and since only one of my close friends is all i told he wont go and tell on me. Its bull**** I have already got in trouble on computers at school. they said i hacked it..
I didn’t even. I was taken computer programming and like my account got banned on comps because some kid said I harassed him on computers... so anyways my friend knew I know a lot bout comps and since the teacher was an idiot he asked me for help. Now it wasn’t going to the right screen for logging into school accounts all that happened was someone turned off network card in Cmos... So yeah I am like oh just go to different comp I don’t want to touch it and get in trouble. So we didn’t bother telling teacher..
Next day the teacher is playing detective and is questioning each of us 1 by 1 and a bunch of kids said I DID IT because they said they saw me at comp on the bios screen. I tried to tell them it wasn’t me, and they said even thou they had no proof I was going get punished. They called my dad and everything to come down to in school and I got like in school suspension and everything i didn’t do ANYTHING wrong.. *Sigh* I still have the note the school wrote to my parents to tell them ill give link later and u can see what bull **** it is
Oh yeah and in grade 9 this kid ran by and took my chicken burger and like bit it and threw it back on table and ran away... so he was sitting at a table and I walked over and punched him in face and he fell out of chair and like cried so a teacher came and grabbed me and told them i was on top of the kid like beating the **** out of him and i only got 1 day in school suspension and they had PROOF that time of me hurting someone even thou he did deserve it.
And the guy said he banned accounts by IP so he knew my IP was used on that account... total bull
Honestly, in this day of age..... your a complete moron to NOT learn more about computers. **** like this happens becuase of lack of knowledge, if they ahd any clue about computers this would happen alot less. They had certain required classes back in highschool, but those were just keyboard lessons and Microsoft Office crap, that does not teach you anything about PC's.
Yes, I took Computer programming 110 and Computer Applications 110... Computer programming was to easy I got bored of it. It was visual basic making simple programs that I mastered in seconds yet all the Stoners and that in my class couldn’t get after like 3 months. So I didn’t do any of the work I even coded an FTP connector and showed him I Understood beyond them all and he failed be by 2% because I didn’t do work its retarded.
Computer Applications I just surfed net it was Microsoft office bull**** that I already knew so I failed that course but I didn’t care. I didn’t want to fail Computer Programming Cause I wanted to take advanced course which was c++... so now I am learning c++ on my own and doing fine. Hurrah for me and Gay for school
:D
The member agreement when you joined the forum prohibits you from swearing or being abbrassive I bet, if you violated that it's your problem. The fact that your friends are retarded enough to be a bunch of homophobic assjigs is another story.
I DIDNT violate it thats what im tryign to say. I DIDNT DO ANYTHING WRONG thats the whole point.. and they can cry over it. Not like its a hard thing to fix. friggin pussys
I'm saying if you or your friends violated the agreement, then they can do whatever they want to you. Considering the website is school property, while you're on it you are under the laws of your school, kind of like a school bus.
its not school propterty its this gay ass making waves thing which is about dating violence adn they did some assembly at school.. its not EVEN the school so yeah. and they cant do WHATEVER they want thats bull****.

You're wrong.
Schools have laws that influence any portion or aspect of their school in some cases the schools domain extends beyond campus and school time. Drug free school-zones extend beyond the campuses of many schools. On a school bus, if you do something stupid you can be suspended from school. If you threaten a teacher outside of school time and school events you can be expelled anyhow. If you go to a school dance that is after school hours and get in a fight, you can be suspended because it is a school related activity. Being that this website is a school related activity, you come under the schools jurisdiction and may do... Whatever they want.
whatever they want eh.... so if they expell me im pretty sure no one is gonna stand for that. at least i got only 1 year left in the ****ing place.
Whatever they want within reason, but the only people jumping up and down are going to be your parents. No lawyer would touch if you disputed it because you can't.
:D When I was in highschool the DOS systems we were using had a locking menu system, so that you couldn't go out the the main menu without the instructor's password. I wanted to play Oregon Trail, so I tried to go back to the main menu where the games were. I guess at the password, and I got it right on the first try. It was my instructor's first name! He was standing over my shoulder when I did it, so I got in trouble for 'hacking'. I was detained after school. When my father came to pick me up the instructor described what I had done... HE actually used the phrase "computer cowboy"...
My father and I laughed about it all the way home...
Now I get the image of Doc Holiday shooting people while running with a laptop.

Ah. Password security. And the users at my place of work wonder why we have such a strict password policy. *sigh*

Happened here last month. Some kid guessed a teacher's website password (her first name... idiot) and changed some stuff. He used a script previously used by one of my brother's friends on his page to frame him. So then, being the BRIGHT kid he is, he guessed about half of the students' passwords. First names. My brother and his friend TRY one each, then log out. Apparently, every froshie in that class said it was them, and not the kid who actually did the "hacking."
My brother and his friend couldn't touch a computer for the rest of the first semester :-/. Really bad, since English 9 is CyberEnglish (90% computer/website related).
Gotta love idiocy.

Ugh. It's just horrible when all the people making decisions about the computers know absolutely nothing about computers. I hate when our CFO gets upset that a laptop we need to purchase "costs so much." This can be applied to any aspect of computers. "OMG! You made my icons bigger! You MUST be hacking!" Crap like that drives me nuts. Arg!
Hmmm.. Didn't mean to get on a rant. :)
no my parents wont do anything...... and besides my freinds who did it live in USA... and they dont even know who i am on forums so bleh. they probably wont make any issue out of it just like ban accounts or something.
