View Full Version : 9700 TX, 128mb, agp8x
Does anybody know anything about these cards? All i know is that this card is a form of a 9700 produced only for dell. Now a friend of mine has offered to sell it to me for $100, but he has already parted out his old machine so i can get any real specs from him like gpu/ram speeds or any benchmarks.
Is it worth it?
Neweggs refurbished sections shows 9600 XT's for around $100
Seems like an alright price.
Well the temptation was just too much and i bought it. Finally got it home today to throw in my 2nd machine, and under device manager, it is detected as "Radeon 9500pro/9700 SEC Family." Default core speed is 263mhz, and the mem is 263mhz (526mhz effective). Looks to have Infineon 3.3ns RAM. At stock speeds 3dmark03 scores a 4556. Not too shabby.
Loaded up ATI tool to do a quick check for it's max oc and i got i got the core up 75+mhz over default! Unfortunately, the RAM doesn't oc so well as i could only get it up to 273mhz. Max final stable oc = 335/270(540). 3dmark03 = 5102.
So i am pretty happy with this card. Next step is to softmod into full 256bit memory bus. Card already has the 9700 pcb with the L-shaped 256bit mem design, so it should work with the omega drivers. :mullet:
anybody else with a 9500pro ----->9700 soft mod?
