well, i've been running an nForce2 board since it came out with no complaints using the onboard sound in 5.1 (except for some reason the center channel and subwoofer channel are swapped, but i suspect my speakers are to blame)

id like to do some recording with my pc and have been considering the Terratec Phase88 and the Aureon 7.1 Universe. can anyone help me understand the differences between these two (as well as the advantages/disadvantages vs the nforce2 onboard sound). ive read plenty of reviews, and other than the physical differences between the types of connections, i cant seem to find much other comparative information. is one better than the other in terms of quality, or are they essentially the same thing but with different inputs/outputs? thanks for any help you can provide

also, i'm new to this forum, so please be nice =]

electric guitar, bass mostly. the RCA plugs would be fine for that i think. i guess im just trying to figure out the main differences between the two other than the inputs/outputs on the breakout box and PCI card

go to www.musiciansfriend.com and ask them what they think a good setup would be. And when you get your answer let me know because i was wandering the same stuff about digital recording.
