Mack,
What chips are on OCZ PC4400 EL Gold, cos I've just scored a cheap 2nd hand 1gb set for my P4 AI7 board, as apparently they're optimised for the 865 chipset?
Cheers

Jimbo, the pc4400 EL Dold is using the Hynix B chips, according to this Anandtech article. (http://www.anandtech.com/memory/showdoc.aspx?i=2098)
Since both the ShikaXRAM PC4400 and OCZ PC4400 EL Gold are based on the same Hynix B chips, we decided to look at both the memories in the same review.

Hi mud,
Yeah thats what I'd read too. However I've read some posts lately where people are claiming that it's TCCD also.
Personally, I'm hoping it's Hynix B cos I've already tried TCCD, but the seller claims they'll run a 280 fsb without trouble so that leads me to believe its TCCD.

280 fsb isn't outside of the Hynix B's operational realm, according to Anandtech's article. They got 289 fsb out of their EL gold in that article with 2.85v with an Asus P4C800-E. Whatever it is, it's still some high overclocking ddr. I've had mine to around 280 fsb on my IC7-G board at 1:1 mem/fsb ratio.

Thanx mud, thats good news. I got them in the hope of running my AI-7 1:1, so they should do the trick.

Should be Hynix, yes. They have been clocking great on most boards lately.
