graphics flaking out on laptop

I m having issues with a new Compaq presario r3000z The graphics get a pinkish color when the computer is first turned on. Then once its warmed up or the screen is pivoted a bit the pixels seem to "catch" their true colors. Anbody have any ideas what this is ? :scratch:

i have a really old 15" monitor that does that, hitting it always seems to do the trick.

since your laptop is new though, it sounds like it may be a bad connection somewhere
