I have never seen this error before and google wasn't any help.

Basically the computer started acting flaky, and then the drive would intermittently have "Start Unit Request Fail" in the SCSI bios POST.

When it does not do this, the drive works fine (accessible in windows, etc.) for a short time, and then eventually dismounts and shuts off.

I have messed with various SCSI bios settings, such as ignoring Start Unit Request, etc.

Basically I understand that the drive is dying, but I want to know if anybody's seen this before and if you think it's a card failure, power issue, or drive electronics problem (the drive is not making any weird sounds, so I don't think it's a mechanical problem).

usually a sign your scsi drive is failing or has failed. Usually not a lot of hope if this was a known good drive/system.
