Do you need one? My computer says I have no battery when I checks the specs.

well i guess it must be desktop, otherwise he wouldnt be able to turn it on..

don't need to have a battery in a laptop to start it up

the AC adeptor works by it's self

you are fine then

a APC is helpful if you loose power and also some APC helps by doing line conditiong (ie filtering out surges, spikes, and brown outs)

other then that they act like large surge suppressors
