I have 2 36.7GB Raptors right now in RAID 0 (Promise 2+0 stripe RAID 0)
MB = A8V Deluxe, socket 939 FX-53 processor
1GB DDR xtreme RAM
The A8V Deluxe has VIA Southbridge 8237 and Promise 378 fast track
My 36.7GB raptors are in the Promise Controller from the MB.
I would like to switch the data to my new 74GB Raptors on the Southbridge hearing it is better. I know I will loose all data making my new RAID 0 with the VIA8237. I have not installed the NEW 74GB raptors yet to the Southbridge.
1) I purchased GHOST.
2) I purchased two 74GB Raptors
Can I make a back up (using DVD/R or CD/R) of my smaller Raptors with GHOST on promise controller and put the image on my new 74GB raptors using the southbridge VIA controller?
*I have the southbridge drivers (lastest ones) already installed in Windows XP along with of course the promise drivers
So basically I want to put the new HD in southbridge in RAID 0 while keeping my data from old drives.
That would be the first step. Then I would like to make use out of the smaller raptors like; back up on other controller the promise (the one they are on now)?? if possible?
Afraid if I put them on southbridge they will slow down my RAID 0. So would like to have them as just some kind of back up or storage???
