Sick Computer

Hi Guys,
My husband's computer is infected it started with Trendmicro said it has
troj_gen,troj_meiwer.f,adw betternet.a,adw isearch. Which it was unable to
fix. So we downloaded HJT,Adaware, Avast, He has spybot s/d already.
I went in safe mode and ran these programs. And deleted what showed infected. It cured some and more seem to be there. This was a all day task
I finally got tired and brought it back to normal mode. Well surprize it acted
worse after I had done all that. The system is real slow in booting back up
and when I get my desktop there was no task bar! Can't seem to get into my programs or online. My husband is mad! He need's to get to his important files
so he can put them to a disc before he can gut the system.
My question is on booting to safe mode there are prompts to ask what you want to do one of them is Last Known Good Configuration(your most recent settings that work) Is this like system restore? If so would it work to use that
so we can get to the programs? Any info I would appreciate it. He has a
Dell 4300 Dimenion window xp home edition.

You didn't delete everything that HijackThis came up with, did you? If you did, that would be why. If the icon is on your desktop go to My Computer and navigate through the folders to the one that you put HijackThis in. Open HijackThis and go to the Tools section. There should be an option to restore backup. Restore all of the backups that you made the day that you attempted to fix this.

If there is no My Computer icon on the desktop, open Taskmanager (CTRL ALT DEL) and click the Applications tab. Now click the button at the bottom that says 'New Task' and type 'explorer' (without the quotes) and continue from there.

I was able to get to hjt and restore the backup files. So I guess I'm reinfected again.
I'm waiting for it to boot back up in normal mode to see if that helped.
But its still to slow for booting up. Ok it booted back to desktop but still no task
bar i tried control alt esc and still nothing! ugh!
I have a slight correction. It was not HJT the program was xsoft spy.
That I did all the deleting in & restored. I didn't run HJT since it was
to involved way to scarry to have done that with out help!

Also somehow I was able to turn back on restore. And my husband was
able to get in his excel programs but had to write all the info down since
it wouldn't let the printer print. So his computor is sick.....
Any other info I would need to know please inform me. thanks

My Husbands computer was reformatted. Thanks Anyway for your help.
You guys do a great job for people the are stuck with the spyware & other problems
