The Shuttle be gone but my temptation to have a 24/7 online server hanging off my connection was swayed by 2x 1600+ CPU's and an MSI dualie board (thanks Tex & Omega!)...
What do I need to do with this rig to get it to fold? Two instances? Both console or does one need to be the graphical?
Won't be for a few weeks (until the kit arrives) but Im planning :)

2 clients. One has to be console but the other can be either. Set second console to Machine ID #2 and put them each in a different folder/directory.

You have to change the machine ID in the avd options of the config.
/me wants a dualie ;[

*Cough* .. don't care.. got a dualie :vimp: *cough*
Two instances.
Console clients.
One version is machine 0, the other one is machine 1.
You can set this affinity when you config the clients for the first time, or change it in the user config.

Here is a link to instructions. It it pretty simple to do once you've done it a few times. Don't for get the "-local" flag it keeps the folding program from doing the same work unit twice.

Hope this helps, Adam

I always use 2 console instances setup as services using srvany.
Just make sure each has it's own folder, and a different machine id.
No need for affinity ;) works just as well without it.
I personally run double the number of clients compared to CPUs. On my duallie I run 4 clients. This is not recommended officially but the machine is easily fast enough to cope, and it means outages that last tend to still not stop everything folding. Also, I run a mixture of -advmethods and normal.
Definitely use a diff machine ID, use the local flag. And I should set them up as services too :D
Thanks everyone :D
I just got the dualie bug and I wanted to have a good server to hand. Then I suddenly have :fold: :fold: in my eyes
Time to reverse my average folding performance me thinks.. Id like to be a threat to someone ;)

shorty wants to be a threat to someone! oh noes!
Watch out for when he gets his prescott 3.4ghz :eek2:
Fold on ;) :fold:
Shorty - that thing should fold very nicely - won't beat the MP2000+ I've got tho ;D
You must have a pretty good folding output tho, although I doubt you'll beat that system Prime used to 'test' his folding output :vimp:
Prescott 3.4ghz. Just keep repeating that ;)
/me hopes Mr Intel keeps their promise

I like my dual MP2000+. I use a modified version of the folding_dual.zip for my needs, (includes service description & displayname). If you want it, PM me.
Anyway, you're all in trouble now, because my sister is moving out of her apartment with ****ty power and into somewhere where the dualie can stay powered up for more than half an hour at a time. I also just finished fixing up my 1.8GHz p4 desktop, so more folding 24/7 power there. My AIW 9700 crapped out and now I get to RMA (sux). Running my GeForce 3 Ti500 for the time being (which still gets good framerates playing CS at 1600x1200).
