View Full Version : JoinFolding t-shirt idea

Would anyone be interested in a JoinFolding t-shirt? I thought it'd be a fun way to spread the word :)
I was thinking a brand-name-style logo on the front, maybe like this:
Lincoln
21 Apr 2005, 6:40pm
And then a short message on the back, like this:

What do you guys think? Would you buy one? I'd probably do it on Cafe Press and sell them at cost unless someone has a better idea.

What is CafePress charging for a basic Tee these days though? I'm thinking you might be able to get away with cheaper if you source them elsewhere. Then you could sell them a bit above cost to reimburse you for time and effort, and it'd still be cheaper for the buyers than CafePress is.

Just iron ons is all we need nothing too expensive.

I can do a deal with a business I know who would do some good priced tee's and hoody's etc. Just let me know if you want me to look into it for the UK side of things. Either transfers or embroidered (my preference). I have just had ten polo shirts and two fleeces for a snip!

CafePress - very high quality... But also, very very expensive. It will SURELY be cheaper to get them screen printed and buy in bulk.

(Better check with the 1337 designer, though.)

I think I'm gonna aim for transfer/screen printing. Embroidering is nice for polo shirts, but it looks a little funny on t-shirts IMHO and... it rubs :o
GHoosdum, I'll look into that. The fun thing about Cafe Press though is that I can stick the logo on like 50 things at once and I don't have to worry about shipping. I also don't have to worry about fronting the cost (poor college student here) or getting left with random shirts I can't use. Maybe I'll try both? Like do a small run of lower cost shirts and then leave it on Cafe Press.

I'll buy 10 if we can get them in triple-extra long and tripple-extra large. I loves me some big t-shirts.

I still do embroidery although I took the site down.
I vote for Screen thingy... but check around for a better price. Ctrl+Alt+Del uses a place called ZeeStuff (http://www.zestuff.com/home.php) and their t-shirts are around $15. I've bought a few and they seem fairly good quality.
I would probably buy one or two shirts regardless of price (well, assuming they're under $40 each).

If we happen to be deadlocked on a couple designs, it should be simple enough to have both as a choice if we do it cafe express style. I'd probably get one of each, probably each on a different color of shirt.

I must be old...
well, I was hanging out, and someone told me that lot's of funny lines and opinions or suggestions are being put on t-shirts, and people are making money selling them. One of my buddies said, "yeah, that's like t-shirt blogging, putting your blogs on t-shirts" Lots of blog guys are making money doing this. So I figured it was called T-shirt Blogging. So, we just started talking about how we can make money t-shirt blogging. So, I went hunting for ideas. Any ideas on how I can become a T-shirt Blogger on the cheap

Good BUMP... I would love to look into t-shirts. I'd prefer a simple silk screen t-shirt and the option to do the nice polo's like Kingfish. I'd love to have the option to buy from a nice e-Commerce site like kingfish had.

I'd be interested in nice t-shirt and polo. If the polo had a pocket, even better! (place to keep my glasses...lol)

Hey wow..... I never thought of this! My bestfriend Owns a huge screen printing shop! I can get shhirts for a few bucks each depending on color, and screen setup is $25 Bucks along with the cost of making the screen is $5 per color. If you guys want I can pursue this and make it happen! We would just need to choose a final logo and what you would want it to say :)
If we could get enought pre orders we could get a huge deal on these shirst! I'm sure we could get shirts out for $5 to $9 each shipped.

The only minor thing I'd change is remove the red border and black surround to the cog. Think it'd stand out a bit more on the white shirt.

I like animal's design. It has a more "fashionable" look to it.
A few guys have mentioned making reference to team 93. Personally I would have greater pride in wearing a T shirt that represents a community I belong to. So i'm all for it!
Anyway, no matter what you guys decide on, I would buy quite a few of them.

I'll PM you about that :)

It would probably cost more to change the Team 93 text to a color Team 93 logo, right?
I thought of that myself... I liked it with the red "Team #93 Short-Media" but we can get quotes with different combinations and see if there is much difference. Here it is with the team in red...
I took out the "hell" and switched a few words. I also added the "Team #93 Short-Media" to the bottom. Keebs did a great job with the original... just modified it a bit. So... what do think of the editing of the text?
OK... Here's two options for the front of the t-shirt....

Those look great. I really like the first option for the front of the t-shirt. Count me in for one. Now, lets just get those case badges going :)
FIRST - If no one wants changes, I'll start a POLL in a few days to help refine the selection. We may even offer both t-shirts.
SECOND - When we have an idea what the t-shirt(s) will look like, we can get pricing.
THIRD - With prices in hand, we can start a pre-order (using paypal maybe) and get these sweet shirts out to you.
FORTH - We'll look into case badges.... I know I want one and I am working on the concept as we speak...

What if we put a color team logo on instead, like the one below that I ripped off the sig generator? Maybe whoever made this logo has a higher-res version we could use for the shirt. If this was below all the text and centered, I think it would attract some attention. The text is good, but I don't know that anyone will be drawn to it and read it without a pretty picture.

I think I like the bottom one better (#4?). What if we made the logo larger, maybe the same width as the "Cancer or Systic Fibrosis" line?
To do that, maybe extending the lines in the logo outward to increase the width rather than scaling it would look better.
Edit3:
Here's a version that's been widened, but not scaled.

I agree with Gargoyle, back #4 with a larger logo. Perhaps we can add the team number to the front too.
Are we talking just t-shirts or t-shirts and polo shirts?
Thanks to everyone for working the shirt idea!
Right now, just t-shirts. Polo's, in my opinion, do not look good with large designs. The Kingfish Polo's were VERY sweet. Good color choices, nicely sized logo...
As for the t-shirt logo on the back... I'll work on it tomorrow at work (during breaks, of course :D )
My opinion on the front... as little as possible, make them wonder and ask or wait and look at the back...

Good idea . A long time ago, I got a shirt from church with just a salt shaker on the front. The idea was that people would ask you what that was, and you could tell them the story of Lot's wife (turned into pillar of salt). It worked, people asked all the time.

BUMP... Garg, do you want the logo across the entire back or just this wide?

I think that the font on the back changes in size too much in this incarnation. Sure, it gets the point across better when it's written this way, but the changes in pattern, both of the font sizes and with the team logo halfway down the back, it looks visually distracting to me. Remember, this is going to be a T-shirt, not a flyer. I also don't think that this incarnation, with the team logo, jives as well between front and back as the previous postings you make, Q. We've got a red front and a teal back.
Well... the first version of the t-shirt had the "joinfolding.com" was done in Red and the back was black. I have no problem changing colors...
As for the logo, that was Garg's suggestion. So far, just you two have chimed in about the final ideas...
I can reduce the Font on the back, if needed.

That's an idea too!!! I think the "Team #93 Short-Media" on the sleeve would be a nice touch... what do you guys (none gender specific) think?
I'm beginning to think that any more than three colors (black, and two shades of red) and the shirt cost could inflate.

Maybe instead of the logo I proposed, we could just put the three short-media rings in front of the "Team #93 Short-Media." We can make the rings black or red to jive with the colors on the back. I just want something on the back that isn't text.
I don't really like writing on the sleeve. If everyone else wants it, that's cool, but I've always thought writing on the sleeve was pretty dorky. Not like passers-by need to get the sales pitch from every angle. I imagine it would increase cost a little, too.
Edit for new T-Shirt back #9:
I think people are more likely to read the back than the sleeve, so it's probably a good idea to put our team # on the back. And I just really don't like anything on the sleeves. I'll deal with it if everyone else wants it... but I won't wear it as much. If anything was put there, I think a single line of "Team #93 Short-Media" would suffice, and maybe put a text-sized cog in-line with the text following it.
I really like the last idea with the team name and number on the sleeve.
If I may query something....Why does the slogan read "Cancer, or Cystic Fibrosis"
Surely by folding, we helping to cure both? Not one or the other.
