I think we need to customise the post smilies like we had before (the ones you select for the post itself).

you guys suck.

Can't you americans not **** over other cultures and countries?

You really think you're all better then the others?

the canadian flag might not be as old, but its still one national symbol.

now if you ask, I prefer not displaying it - I'm from quebec and we have our own distinctive signs - blue, white, fleur de lys. But I wouldn't insult another country's flag.

QCH2002, didn't you understand the song, Blame Canada - they ridiculize the fact that most americans blame others on their own problems, and more likely the closest neighbor.

Back on topic, this smiley is 1337. Me likes it. :D GJ.

Mars, you have to understand our weird brand of humor at this site. The site is owned by three people from three different countries:

primesuspect - USA
mediaman - Canada
shorty - United Kingdom

Therefore, there is a lot of representation from each nation, and a great deal of good-humored mudslinging is done between all of us. Trust me when I say that all anti-US, anti-UK and anti-Canada comments are in good fun. So please don't take offense.

In other words, welcome to the strange site that is short-media.com :)

still you'd be insulted if I ridiculised your lame 3-color flag http://www.immigration-usa.com/flags/burning/art_photo_by_zigy_kaluzny.jpg
;)

Insulting a national symbol is considered as a federal crime in the states, you guys should take care not to carry jokes too far...

This said, I care less for the unifoiled, as I said we have our own national signs in Quebec.

read about Canada in there:

Prime, you forgot to mention those of us (*cough* me *cough* although some other ppl do some of it too...) that poke fun at these other groups:
Liberals
French
Politicians
Microsoft
Ricers
Intel users
nVidia users
The computer-illiterate masses
BMW enthusiasts
Truck enthusiasts
System/Network Administrators *cough* Shorty *cough*
Other members

anything else I forgot to mention?

So yea, prime's right. We've got a strange sense of humor, and all anti-(insert one or more of the above groups here) are in good fun (well except maybe the French and the Ricers :D ;D )

Well, you're wrong there. I would not at all be insulted if you ridiculised (or ridiculed) any flag. I'm a world citizen, brother :)

Actually Marsupial, I wouldn't be insulted at all. It's a flag. All it is is a symbol- I really don't care what you do with it. There's a difference between saying "The Intel logo (the flag) sucks" and "Intel (the country) sucks". The first one isn't going to insult anyone who's in their right mind- anyone that's insulted by it needs to loosen up- a lot. The second statement, however, could be insulting to some people (who still need to loosen up, just not as much).

People are entitled to their own opinions. You can hate the U.S. all you want to- I really couldn't care less. But living in the U.S. while talking about how bad it is is just plain stupid, and it's only if you do something to hurt the country and/or it's citizens I'm going to get upset.

See Amendment 1 of the Bill of Rights
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

However, rather than debating this here, we should do so in a more appropriate venue- www.keyboardjockey.com

omg, we are having a politcal conversation over a smiley

;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Marsupial, this may be the most laid back forum on the net ;) No one's out to get Canada's flag, we just want to goad MediaMan into a rumble in the pub :p hehehe...

If someone would like to animate that gif, I'm sure Shorty would add it. (there I go again saying Shorty will do stuff :p ) We at least wanted that one in the mix even if we couldn't find an animated version. :)

I blame the site's weird sense of humor entirely on prof. ;) ;D

Awesome smiley, TD
