Hi everyone! I have a Dell Insperion 5100 laptop (about a year old). I recently tried to run the thief 3 demo. To my dismay, I recived an error message that told me "engine requires video card with pixel shader 1.1 or greater.". Can I download this pixel shader? And if not, is it posible to swap graphics cards on laptops? Thanks in advance.

You need a direct X 8 card (requirement) and no you cant change graphics cards.
Your notebook will not run that game.

Bummer. So does this mean I won't be able to run almost all new games?

The bigger titles still support dx7 or open gl (doom 3 hl2)
But ion storms stuff didnt because it was a direct port from the xbox version (even has a vibrate option in the settings)

Im guessing that lappy has a Geforce 4 MX series card? The MX line does not support pixel shader 1.1. I have the same problem on one of my lappys with Act Of War: Direct Action.
Most other games run fine, such as Doom3, Unreal 2k4, FarCry, Command and Conquer Generals, Battlefied series, Max Payne 2, etc etc.....
Check the system requirements of the game before you buy. It should say if it does not support the MX line.
