Is it whenever they feel like it, or do they do a big update on a certain day of the week? The mobo and processor I plan on buying have been the same price since Monday, and I want to buy but I know as soon as I do, the price will drop... so when are they most likely to drop the price?

Yesterday I thought about buying a Abit NF7-S v2 ($111) Today it rose $5 to $116.

Take my advice BUY NOW!

BTW AMD cut CPU Prices last week, so they're not going to get any cheaper, anytime soon.

They change everyday. Sometime by the time I get to read their email/newsletter thingy its already changed from that price.

Wow... the board stayed at 159 for two weeks, and the processor has been 72 for a week solid now! Oh well, I'll soon have my 2100 oc'd to 2.17GHz in my secondary rig, and my 2500 oc'd to 2.2GHz in my primary rig. Happy days! :D

Why a DFI Lan Party? :skeptic:

I don't mean to be an anal bastard, but damn DFI blows.

Review here (http://www.anandtech.com/mb/showdoc.html?i=1840&p=1)

If you are looking for an AMD Athlon motherboard, the DFI NFII Ultra LanParty is without equal. For the gaming, case-modding, or LAN Party enthusiast, there is no Athlon motherboard that we have tested which comes close to the package provided by the DFI NFII Ultra LanParty. For those building with the popular side-window cases, the glow-under-black-light UV-reactive slots and cables make the NFII stand out from the competition. The multitude of cables and adapters that come stock with the NFII provide all the game, USB, firewire, sound, and front I/O ports any gamer could want.

However, we found there was much more to the NFII than attention-grabbing eye-candy. The NFII is also the best-performing AMD Athlon board that we have tested. It overclocks further than any other Athlon board we have seen, and it performs better at all speeds in gaming benchmarks. The board was clearly designed and tweaked for gaming performance.

Now, the overclocking was only 223MHz so I don't think AnandTech has reviewed the NF7-S v2.0 yet and also Anand himself did not write the article and I've noticed that normally the quality of both the review and the writing drastically declines if Anand himself does not do the reviewing and writing.

Anyway, it's not like the DFI is a pile of garbage board, but I do think the NF7-S is better, especially for the money.

I thought newegg did their prices based on 3 things...
inventory...how many of proc xy they have
demand...how many they selling of proc xy
the weekend...whether its friday or not

when the inventory gets low, i think they lower the prices to move out the old ones to get newer ones in (steppings, rev's, etc)
when there's a big demand for a something, i think they jack the price up a few bucks cause they know we'll buy em
alot of time on fridays ive noticed prices are lowered for the weekend etc cause they know most peeps just got paid...

now i cant verify none of this...its just things ive noticed shopping with them for 2 yrs. another thing to watch i think is the refurb section..mon/tues usually looks good if u want an abit mobo, thur/fri if u want epox..refurb cases tues evening to thurs morning seem to be they have the most...i havent spotted any other trends yet, but im working on it..

Wow, fatcat, you've put the work into it.

And thanks, a2j, I think you answered Thrax's question better than I would have!
