no matter how much common sense he lacks

I agree he's better than having a tree-hugging liberal idiot in the office, but at the same time, he's not exactly my first choice...

I don't know if it is soo much him being a dumbass, or the people who write his speeches......welll......actually I think it is a combination of the both.

God damn. If I hear that "He can't chew a pretzel" comment one more ****ing time I'm going to go Christian just so I can pray for your choking on steak, and my being there so I may laugh profusely at you and say "He can't chew steak!" :werr:

;D It's not so much that the pretzel is an outstanding example of stupidity as it is that it's really easy to remember. But i mean the quotes above prove it- the guy can barely speak English... (or whoever writes his speeches at least)

I'll just remind you that some of the most intelligent people in history had zero public speaking skills.

Very true. But I still don't like the guy, which is why I enjoy poking fun at him :D

This type of crap can turn into a flame-fest really quickly. We're not allowed to have a debate forum here on S-M so KeyboardJockey was setup for that. How about taking your comments to KeyboardJockey so that we don't pollute S-M?

If being a smooth talker was the most important requirement to be President, then we ought to elect a used-car salesman.

Right? ;)

in a way, politicians and used car sales<strike>men</strike> salesPEOPLE (we musn't be politically incorrect... ;D) aren't that different. Both have to sell something- in the case of the president, the last thing he sold that I can think of is the war in Iraq. I won't judge whether it was right or wrong to go to war, but I can say that he had to sell that war to the American people. He had to sell his tax cuts- everything he wants, he has to sell to the rest of us, or he won't have a job come november of 2004...

Yes, that's all quite true.

But getting back to the glib aspect, a sleazy salesperson can sell you junk (ask me about my old Opel...) by being a smooth talker. Almost anyone can sell quality goods - without being a clever speaker.

How do you do this at 3am? I mean it's only midnight here and thinking about this stuff is already making my head hurt :rolleyes2 But yea, if we're going to debate politics, civilized or otherwise, we should probably navigate over to keyboardjockey. Getting back to the original post though, regardless of what you think of Bush as a President or a person, you do have to admit that some of the stuff he says is pretty damn funny.
